This beer pours an opaque blackish brown color. The head is small, and recedes quickly into a very faint cap of bubbles. The aroma is chocolate forward without going overboard. There is enough roasted malt there to keep things somewhat balanced. The taste is less chocolate forward than the aroma, and I think that is a good thing. It is roasted malt driven with some chocolate in the background. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium bodied with a velvety texture. The carbonation is on the lighter side which is appropriate for the style. Overall, this is a very drinkable chocolate porter. So many beers of this style are merely dessert beers, and I'm not a sweets person. This beer, however, is more of an easy drinking taproom flagship porter.
