Bottled on 3/4/2023; consumed on 7/17/2024
Pours a viscous, oil-black hue topped with just shy of a finger of creamy, walnut-brown foam; decent head retention leaves a vague few spots of cap, slight yet frothy collar, and a limited spotting of short-lived lacing around the walls of the glass.
Aroma offers toasty cacao nibs into melted strawberry ice cream and a lush vanilla backdrop as spasms of charry oak are interspersed between burnt coffee edges throughout.
Taste brings a creamy vanilla/strawberry interplay and charry oak accents upfront, with a slight strawberry twang hovering in the backdrop countered by oaky barrel poking through the mid-palate to a minimalistic coffee note lingering on the finish.
Mouthfeel shows a full body and minimal carbonation, letting a creamy silk envelope ample char over the mid-palate as a steady drying is engaged over the back end and a modest warmth lingers past the swallow.
A level neapolitan tinge carries through a richly tannic, oaky underbelly, distracted slightly by an encroaching fruity zing as charry coffee and fresh cacao complete an otherwise composite profile.
