A - Opaque yellow with a big white pillow that leaves excellent lacing.

S - Huge yeast ester profile, unique blend of banana and pepper with a solid hit of tropical fruit hop aroma as well. Malt profile is overpowered.

T - Moderate bitter citrus peel hop and peppery yeast. The flavors play well together over a fun-sized malt bill.

M - Very dry and dissipating.

O - As a fan of hoppy saisons I greatly approve of this beer.

I think that I recently picked this up at Hunger 'n' Thirst, especially since it is so fresh. It is a really beautiful addition to The CANQuest (tm) with its metallic gold color and wild graphics.

From the CAN: "Don't Look Back"; "The beautiful music of Orpheus had power over the living, could move inanimate objects, and even hold sway over the gods. Lyric Ale is an ode to this profound beauty, which guides everything we do. We use a blend of hops from three [CAN]tinents and our house saison yeast to strike this harmonic balance of fruit and spice flavors."; Art by Peter Ferrari.

Since Saisons CAN & may be cloudy, I agitated the beer while still in the CAN to put any lees back into suspension. The Crack! was a bit messy, though, as I got some immediate foaming through the vent. A quick Glug formed massive amounts of dense, rocky, bone-white foam that slowly CANverted back into liquid with just over a finger remaining before it, too, dissipated to wisps. Color was a cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose had a fruitiness like peaches, apricots and tangerines along with a light funk from the yeast. Mouthfeel was medium, but with a god bit of carbonation in the mouth. The taste was very fruity, very peach-forward, but I also got apricots & tangerine as well as a tangy bitterness, like biting into pith, probably from the yeast. Mmm. I usually do not like Saisons, but this was really yummy! Finish was dry, mostly as a result of the yeast having done its job, but it is also worth noting that the fruitiness never faded, which was a large part of its attraction for me.

Clean, golden pour, massive head taking up half the glass, and steady stream of bubbles, all added up to a good looking presentation. The nose was prototypical, with aromas of spicy yeast, floral hops, and sweet malt evoking banana and pineapple. The taste was a quick assault of tropical fruit which faded into biscuit like malt, before the spicy yeast took over. The finish was spicy and dry with notes of hay. Crisp and light on the tongue, with the 6.5% ABV This saison was very authentic.

Hazy yellow with a big, thick head, but the carbonation feels low. Classic saison aroma of spice and toasty bread and dough. There's a citrus rind thread running through the aroma and finish. As it warms, the bitter, earthy grapefruit hops come forward. Overall, a well balanced farmhouse ale.

Poured from a 12OZ can into a tulip glass.
Aroma- Fantastic aroma of citrus and hops.
Appearance- great semi-cloudy golden color with a giant marshmallow white head.
Taste- Fantastic saison style beer, has definite citrus overtones with a crisp finish.
Palate- Medium bodied with medium carbonation, excellent finish.
Overall- My first Orpheus beer and it is great. An excellent example of a Saison.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. And yes, that can came courtesy of the amazing woodychandler. Despite a gentle pour, has a bright yellow color with a 1 1/2 inch head. Smell is of yeast, lemons, spices. Taste is yeast, lemon, oranges, pepper, light tartness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a quality beer.

This is probably one of the hoppier Saisons I have head. It's almost in IPA territory, but that's not such a bad thing, in my opinion. The hoppiness is met with a pleasant dryness, as well as a bit of a juicy mouthfeel. And it even comes in cans!

Lyric Ale has a thick, creamy, stark-white head, an opaque, yellow appearance, some lazy bubbles, and fairly significant and heavy glass lacing. Aroma is of lemon and white wheat bread, and the taste is the same, with some spiced bread notes. Forget bitterness or brettanomyces, here. Mouthfeel is medium, and Lyric Ale finishes crisp.
