Stirring from the haze of winter, this refreshing unfiltered White Ale awakens its smooth wheat with the bright snap of spring spices. From the subtle sweetness of orange peel and plum to the peppery bite of fresh ground coriander, the blend of spices creates just the right refreshing kick to signal that spring is on its way.

From the 12 oz can, it pours a slightly hazy lighter amber color with a very nice thick white head that slowly diminishes and leaves lacing. Nose gets some lightly spicy orange scent with malt. The mouth follows with a slightly spicy and slightly fruity light malt flavor.

Pours a golden color with a foamy medium head. Aroma is slightly sweet & spicy. Taste is mild and refreshing. Description says it all. BB 6-2026

Picked up as part of a Sam Spring mixed pack and I was a little surprised I hadn't reviewed that one before. Pours a medium cream head and translucent body. Nose is orange peel and a touch of spice, presumably coriander. Kind of muted in flavor, with some biscuit note tempered with citrus and spice. I bit sweet and yeasty at the finish but not a bad attempt at the style.

Got in a variety pack of spring brews from Sam Adams. I've seen it around for a while, but never wanted to pull the trigger on a 6 pack. Pours a nice filtered hazy pale straw with rapidly dissipating head with some residual lacing and bubbling fermentation. Very soft on the nose with nice aroma of spices and that gentle wheat in what you'd expect from the style. The taste is where there's something 'different' to the style and I couldn't quite put my finger on it until I saw it was vanilla. I really think the vanilla mellows how the citrus bite and the corriander which often, to me, comes off as 'soapy'. Tastes almost like lavender. Mild chew and it goes down well with a little bitter citrus on the backend but softened considerably from that vanilla note.
Might be worth grabbing a 6 when it comes out seasonably if I'm 'in the mood'.

Pours golden semi haze on draught with white frothy cap. Mellow and clean hef, refreshing, dry and smooth.

Really nice, sweet, almost vanilla flavor. Not very bitter despite the unfiltered look.

This is a pretty solid witbier, somewhere in between Blue Moon and Avery's White Rascal. I'm a little confused by the naming and description, since it's supposedly a wintertime ale given the name and color of the bottle, and then it says it's made with spring spices. So which one is it? Semantics aside, it's a decent enough witbier and I'd drink it again. I didn't get any of the plum notes but there's plenty of citrus and coriander here.

Sweet, pleasantly spicy and pretty light. Not the best witbier in the world, but the best thing in the variety pack I got it from, and better than a lot of Samuel Adams stuff I've had (which tends toward "okay").

Poured from a 12oz can into a chalice.
L- Poured a cloudy pale yellow orange color. Not much in the way of head retention, but decent lacing.
S - Typical Wit Beer spicing, orange zest, coriander, ect... I also detected a faint metallic aroma.
T - Lightly spiced with hints of citrus. There is a slight hop sizzle on the tongue towards the finish. Not overly artificial tasting, but also not very interesting, just kinda mid.
F - Light, refreshing and drinkable. Nothing to groundbreaking. A decent representation of the style.
O - I honestly enjoyed this beer more towards the end than I did with the first few sips. I'm not sure if it got better as it warmed up a little, but I did like the 2nd half of this beer then I liked the 1st. Cold Snap is alright, I don't think I'd ever seek, but it is better than Blue Moon but not even close to Allagash White or even Hoegaarden. Cheers!
