i actually liked this one a lot, and truthfully, of the dozen or so light lagers and pils types i had on my trip to ontario, at all stages of macro and craft, this one was probably my favorite. thats not to exalt it as anything more than what it is, but its a crisp, full flavored, and well made beer, cleaner and at the same time more satisfying than any other i had in its category. pale blonde of course, not overly heady from the tap, but holding plenty of carbonation throughout the pint. floral european hops smell fresh to me, saaz maybe, definitely noble in origin, and well dosed for the style, flavorful more than bitter, which is cool in a pilsener type beer which usually go the opposite way there. the yeast actually has some taste too, not enough of this in the lager beers of ontario that i interacted with. a light honey note in the middle before the hops come in, and a drying but not super dry finish, still refreshing and it warms up well, another sign of quality in the style in this instance. simple but good, a notch better than their pale for me.

Clear gold with moderate head. Lovely nose featuring Pilsner malts and some floral notes. Crisp, quite hoppy finish from a medium-light body.

Rockwell Pilsner from Collingwood Brewery.
4.6% alc. 26 IBUs.
Soapy white head. The beer is golden in colour, clear, and there are plenty of ascending bubbles.
The aroma is fresh white bread and hops. Both attributes are lightly done. The taste is comparable to the smell.
The beer is light to medium bodied and the finish crisp and dry.
I think Steam Whistle is better but that’s personal preference. There is nothing wrong with this Pilsner. It’s well-made. I’ve bought it before and will buy it again.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. purchased from the LCBO for around $2.90 CDN. Date stamp reads February 16, 2017, so this is pretty fresh.
Appearance - The beer is rich golden in color with a near amber hue. A thin half finger of white head is poured on top and lingers for only a short period. Plenty of bubbles too.
Smell - A coarse grainy aroma permeates the olfactory senses with little bits of sharp noble hops. Clean with no off aromas.
Taste - Clean and grainy, possibly a bit more so than its Czech (or German) counterparts lack a somewhat sharp hop bite that shines through in those examples (especially the Czechs).
Mouthfeel - Smooth and light bodied but just lacking some crispness.
Overall - The Rockwell Pilsner just kind of falls flat for me. Could use a little more crispness, a touch more intensity of hop flavors and it might move up a couple of notches. Not a bad pilsner, just not a remarkable one and most of the Accessible German and Czech counterparts are not only cheaper but a little better too.

473ml can from the LCBO. Served cool in a stemmed Pilsner Urquell Glass. Dates, Jan 18/17 im assuming thats when it was canned.
A- Clear gold color with lively carbonation. Bone white head of foam diminishes to a ring of sticky lace around the glass.
S- Pretty nice smelling pilsner. herbal hoppy aromas with good bready malts an touch of honey. True to the style.
T- Nice earthy hops with a touch of grassy spice and wholesome malt sweetness. Herbal bitterness coming through in a drying finish. Fresh tasting. Left my lips slightly sticky.
M- light bodied, clean mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation.
D- Highly drinkable and sessionable. All day. Or Night.
Overall this is a fresh, great tasting very drinkable and flavorful true to the style pils. Best ive had since King Pilsner was at its peak.

Tallboy can from the LCBO; dated Feb 16 2017 and served well-chilled. Tried this right before a can of Pilsner Urquell for comparison's sake.
Pours a crystal clear medium golden colour, supporting only a half-finger of frothy white foam which quickly recedes. After a minute or two has passed, only a wide, frothy collar and some scattered swaths of lace remain. Looks like a Czech pils is supposed to, more or less... and the aroma falls along the same lines, with its grainy pale malts and grassy, herbal hops.
A pretty standard Euro-style lager; the flavour profile is pretty evenly divided between the malts and hops, with the former providing a clean backbone, and the latter coming in to focus on the back end. Starts off grainy and bready, with suggestions of honey biscuit, followed up by grassy hay and a light hop spiciness. Grassy finish with some lingering pale malt sweetness; not particularly dry. Light in body, with appropriately strong carbonation levels that give it a good, crisp texture; the mouthfeel is exactly what you'd expect for a beer that looks the way it does. Excellent drinkability.
Final Grade: 3.71, a respectable B grade. Rockwell Pilsner doesn't reinvent the wheel, but this is a style that requires no such thing. A decent facsimile of the Bohemian equivalents is enough to earn my money on an occasional basis - and Collingwood's is at least in that neighbourhood. In the end, I think PU wins out head-to-head by a not-insignificant margin. Yet the fact that Rockwell held its own at all compels me to give this one a recommendation to Czech beer lovers.

It had a slightly hoppy aroma and a very small amount in the taste. It drank like a golden lager, pils, would. It was crisp and clean and finished to the point. Nothing overwhelming an all around well crafted beer that seemed like a classic...but fresh.

473ml can from brewery.
Pale gold with short quickly dissipating head. Bright sweetness on the nose with very mild hop aromas. Mild malt and hop flavours that disappear with a very clean finish. Crisp and bubbly. A slightly better than middle of the road local pilsner that I would certainly drink again.
