Clear, golden color. Thinner than usual for the style head. Yeasts, spices, malt , pepper in the aroma. Moderately sweet taste with a dry finish.
Not bad.

Look: Light straw in color, large head.
Smell: Crisp and hoppy.
Taste: Not a whole lot of interesting yeast flavors, but the hops are nice.
Feel: Crisp, clean, and smooth. Good amount of carbonation.

Since I added this saison and since we don't seem to be able to add notes upon adding a beer (some abuses, no doubt, caused this), I list what I got from Forbidden Rot's website. Curiously listed as a core beer
" “Drinkez Vous” Saison
Who doesn’t love a rustic, balanced farmhouse ale with its inviting peppery nose, satisfying creamy palate and dry finish? It’s no wonder that these shimmering straw-colored ales have fascinated drinkers for generations. ABV: 5.9%"
However, I noticed on their website's beer menu that this was previously called Hay Fever. No further information about changes in the recipe. But it does say there are grains of paradise. Knowing this alone, I should have this saison again.
There largely is truth-in-advertising. This Saison is refreshing in the attack, has complex flavors of multi-grains and an active yeast kicking-up fruitiness and a very soft mouth that goes well with my spinach pie.
Besides liking this saison very much for doing what they are supposed to do (complement food), I'm also giving Forbidden Root some Big OA Hugs to assuage the guilt pangs for having neglected my neighborhood brewery for a couple of years. They are a very creative brewer and they avoid the American palate thrillers of heavy hops and, now, boisterous Brett. I really need to study Forbidden Root more and there is no way better to do that than having a flight at their bar.
