We employ a unique, fast souring process to these "kettle soured" ales that adds a rich, clean acidity which sets the stage to allow different fruits to shine. This Gose-style ale is soured with five strains of natural, probiotic bacteria for bright acidity and a hint of locally harvested sea salt from Big Sur for balance. The base beer is then conditioned on Tayberry puree, a hybrid of raspberry and blackberry.

Tayberry pours a deep dark pomegranate color with little carbonation and no visible head or lacing. The smell, slight berry on the nose, which fades, giving way to a tart red wine aroma that dominates. Let's see how it tastes going down. It's tart up front from the tayberry, followed by that red wine flavor, before a light sweetness creeps in from the raspberries and blackberries, as this kettle sour finishes with a slightly salty.

L: Dank purple
S: Strong berry notes. Softer than the Purple (de Garde)
T: Initial bubble rush of berry flavors that raises up in the middle. Bubbles fade away as you're left with the berry notes in the end.
F: Very light, berry flavors.
O: Decent but simple ride of berry notes.
A cheaper the Purple (de Garde) without the oak notes but with some fizz. Would prefer the purple but this is cheap and good.

On tap at the Hop Grenade
A: Pours Ruby red with a frothy light pink head that settles to a thin layer and leaves a little spotty lacing.
S: Freshjuicy berries, nice tartness, and a little funk.
T: Pleasantly tart, nice berry hit, a touch of light malt, and a faint hint of funk.
M: Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: I'm a sucker for berries so I had to try this one. Really tasty stuff.

Canned 4/17/18.
Look: Vibrant cranberry color. Moderate glass lacing, with about 2 fingers worth of head.
Smell: Slight berry aroma on the nose, but very muttled. Slight tartness evident on the nose as well.
Taste: Fantastic. The berry flavor is evident. Blackberry and raspberry flavor is prominent. The tart aspect is delicious, presented by a natural fruit flavor. There is a nice salty taste at the finish, that I find refreshing.
Feel: Medium in body and weight. High levels of carbonation, but not overly high. Mouthfeel is smooth and easy to drink.
Overall: This is fantastic. As I am working on the yard, this is hitting the spot. The 5 abv is on point, and it is full of flavor. I am really enjoying this beer. I am very grateful to have tried this beer. Cheers!

This was tasty enough, lots of fruit flavor and hint of salt. Problem for me is, it's too much like a soda. Doesn't really come off as a beer to me, more of a light alcoholic beverage.

I have no idea what a Tayberry is, but I know this beer was fantastic. It had a fruity/tart flavor, but didn't taste overly fake, like some beers that are heavy on the fruit. I thought it was well balanced out. Since it's a Gose, I'd expect it to be a little saltier, but other than that, it was still solid.
