A West Coast IPA built around the aroma and flavor of hops that have undoubtedly progressed the style into what it is today. With a clean fermentation lent by California ale yeast, the tropical blast of Mosaic, deep tangerine of Citra, and fruit punch of Amarillo all come into harmony that you can smell from ten feet away.

Had Single Cone poured from pint can, bottom stamped "CANNED ON "12/31/2024," and "WC IS ALIVE AND WELL," into nonic pint.
Pours light yellow with clarity and huge near-white head, with excellent retention, leaving thick rings of lace down the glass. Aromas of straight-up orange and a little lime off pour, then blueberry and pine aromas, with some funky herbal and a hint of stone fruit aromas as warms. On tasting, begins sweet, mild orange and crispy lime, over mild pilsner malt, then some moderate pine resin joins, and all carry into a lightly fruity, somewhat biting and moderately bitter finish.
Deceptively simple but pleasantly fresh, light and fruity IPA, with an untraditional West Coast, moderate bitterness.

Pours a clear amber with plenty of foam in the Duvel tulip. This is a treat right from the first sniff and sip. Lush and sudsy in the mouth. Hugely fragrant but not over-hopped when you take a gulp. Aroma of peach, mango, and lemon. Tastes of lime peel, peach galore, and a woodsy finish. Eventually the bitter aftertaste catches up with the sweet fruity start, but a great combination. I've been pleased Alvarado lately. This is one to watch for. From the 16 oz can purchased at San Diego Wine & Beer Co. Dated 12.31.2024.

At a week and a half old, this pours clear with decent foam. Fantastic aroma, floral, sweet, juicy, bursting with pineapple and tangelo. The sip follows, with a present bitterness and a lingering, drying finish. Worthy of the cone’s lineage.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery beer glass
A: Pours slightly hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces beautifully.
S: Piney and floral notes, citrus, tropical and stone fruit, melon, dank earthy herbal notes, slightly toasty biscuity malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.
T: Spicy pine, citrus, lemon, orange, grapefruit, and lime, floral, underlying fruity side, melon, papaya, apricot, peach, and passion fruit, dank earthy herbal notes, slightly toasty biscuity malt, and a little caramel sweetness.
M: A bit on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate.
O: New school take on a west coast IPA. Good, but not my favorite.

Sweet tropical and citrus hoppy nose on this one. Taste follows with an added piney bitter note on the finish and swallow...lingers a bit. Good depth and feel for a single. Good!

New school, fruity West Coast IPA with solid medium body and med/low bitterness. Nothing special to look at, with a pleasant although mild aroma, but the taste is there with a clean fruit bouquet and just the right amount of balancing floral notes. Overall really good but ASB pricey.

Great West Coast IPA, modern tropical take with plenty of dank, and crisp finish. Bought this on the recommendation of a patron at Beercraft while there picking up Nelson Baby!.... wish I'd grabbed another 4pk. Delicious!
9-day old can into imperial nonic pint. Original rating 4.25 across the board.
L: Subtlely hazy golden with 2 fingers of variable density white head with moderate retention and left ringed and streaked lacing. 4.25 unchanged.
S: Dank forward, floral and pine undertones. Debated increasing rating, but left at 4.25.
T: So much to like here, follows the nose well, very dynamic. Finishes with moderate bitterness, pleasantly lacks acidity or astringency. Increased to 4.5
F: Medium bodied with medium carbonation, slightly lively on the tongue, crisp finish. Left unchanged at 4.25
O: Better than I remember the first batch I tasted. Such a clean and crisp WCIPA. Increased to 4.5.
While I'm definitely not a fan of the price of this beer in my area ($24/4pk 16oz cans) its tasty enough that I'll buy it when I can.

Had this at one of the Bistro's IPA festivals. Alvarado is some elite tier hoppy stuff no one outside of California seems to ever mention. Cool with me. Pours a thick viscosity hop saturated yellow, orange and gold appearance. 1/3" white head. Aroma pops of hops, weed, juicy citrus and tropical hops. All the dankness provided by the Triple Crown of dry hops: Mosaic, Citra and Amarillo.
Man this is a solid banger, taste is largely made up of those late addition hops, juicy body, relatively chill bitterness. Jeez, practically everyone makes kick ass ipas now. They made a west coast ipa with no bittering hops. Feels like nothing went into the boil, all on the back end, and hey, its kick ass. If you want to find something to complain about, and I do, its that these beers are like $5-6 per can. I mean they're awesome, but come on man, I can get like 4-5 SNPAs for that price.

Canned 11/8/18
L: pours sunburnt orange in color. Looks more unfiltered than clear, but the lacing is admirable. The cap is a fingers width of frothy bubbles.
S: rather fruity with a dank tail-end. Full of citrus aromas with healthy amounts of a dank resin. Smells great.
T: upfront with citrus fruits, leaning heavier on lemon and orange. The finish is a concoction of citrus and earthy dankness with a tad bit of pine. Lingering dank resin in the mouth. Also, the signature ASB yeast flavor is present in this beer. It’s unique and very enjoyable in my opinion.
F: medium in body, light in weight. carbination is moderate for the style.
O: fantastic beer. It’s light, enjoyable and refreshing. I am very grateful to have tried and would drink this again. The yeast presence in this beer sets it apart from other beers in the WC style that focus more on malts. Cheers!

Single Cone pours a slight cloudy, dark golden orange with a non-existent head and a then veil of lacing that tops the glass. The smell is citrus and tropical, with juicy, sweet pineapple, a hint of light citrus and a medicinal and band-aid bite I can't shake. Single Cone has a hop bitterness up front with a lemon rind zest taste and is a bit boozy. Very little citrus or tropical present, but clean and easy drinking on the palette with a medium body that finishes dry. It's a drain pour, not a favorite from Alvarado Street.
