It's Alvarado and it's an IPA, so I knew it was gonna be good. Overall it's a super juicy double, the flavor is great with strong citrus notes. The hops come through for a great after taste. The one thing that lets this beer down is the mouth feel, it's really low in carbonation and it's thick. It's like a smoothie beer. It's not refreshing at all. Still good but I'd recommend Alvarado's Double Cone DIPA over this guy.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery beer glass

A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.

S: Tropical, stone fruit, and a hint of melon, citrus, spicy pine, slight herbal notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Citrus, lemon, lime, tangerine, and grapefruit, tropical and orchard fruit, apricot, passion fruit, mango, peach, cherry, and hints of pineapple, guava, and melon, some spicy pine, faint herbal tones, biscuity malt, and caramels sweetness.

M: A little on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate but it does have a slight hop burn and a touch of alcohol warmth.

O: Hits all the marks of a classic Alvarado Street style DIPA. Not my favorite, but still a lot of good stuff going on in there.

I got some different aromatics on this one. I was expecting tropical hoppiness, but instead got a citrus-ey dankness on the nose. Taste actually follows with huge citrus bitterness at the end. You think you are finished, but the swallow lingers with bitter citrus aftertaste with a touch of creaminess.

A lot of things going on with this one. It actually gets better as it warms and probably is best enjoyed after sitting out the fridge for a bit. Definitely looks the part and barely holds on to the proper depth for a DIPA.

Canned 3/12/19, consumed 3/18/19

Pours very hazy & murky yellow with a tiny head, no retention or lacing.

Fruity & hoppy aroma and flavor but with a significant bite that dominates all aspects. Feel is smooth on the initial sip but instead of the full, creamy feel you're searching for, you get a huge twangy bite smack upside the head the leaves a burn mark in your mouth and throat. Hopefully some time will settle that part down because the rest is pretty nice. Still love ASB hop burps.
