Our drier, decidedly “tropical” IPA taken to new heights with a healthy addition of luscious pineapple. As always, we use 100% Mosaic hops, and their intense notes of passion fruit, mango, lychee and blueberry offer a synergistic pairing with the vibrant, sweet, island vibes of freshly cut pineapple. A grain bill of just American two-row malt and the clean fermentation profile of our base Mia Tai recipe ensures that all of the flavors shine and that this delectable golden liquid remains incredibly drinkable.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery pint glass

A: Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.

S: There's a sweetness up front that reminds me of vanilla and cotton candy, followed by tropical fruit and citrus candy, faint grassy notes, and biscuity malt.

T: Tropical fruit and citrus candy, pineapple, guava, orange, lemon, blueberry, apricot, and a hint of passion fruit, dare I say hints of vanilla, faintly grassy, biscuity malt, and plenty of almost cotton candy like sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderately soft carbonation, quite smooth.

O: This variant had escaped me for a while so I was super excited to snap up a can. Now that I've got it, I'm kinda disappointed. They musta used the sweetest most perfectly ripe pineapples when they made this, which kinda works against it. OG Mai Tai is beautifully bright and crisp, yet here the pineapple addition somehow adds mostly sweetness, no balancing acidity, making it come off more candy or soda like. I'm also picking up a little vanilla which, combined with everything else, makes it drink more like a milkshake IPA than a Westy with pineapple. Reminds me of the Mandarin Mai Tai variant, in a bad way.

Canned 2/11/19
L: Hazy yellow in appearance. Looks like a WC/NEIPA hybrid. Heaps of head and copious amounts of lacing.
S: Citrus forward with notes of grass and yeast. Has a metallic aroma that is a little off putting but it still smells good.
T: Pineapple is dominant, which is both preferential and as advertised. Followed by pineapple is flavors of apricot, grapefruit and pineapple. Freshly cut grass is on the finish wild mild pine in the aftertaste. Not as yeasty on the taste as would expect from the smell.
F: Light to medium in body and weight. Nice feel, very smooth and appropriately carbonated. Great feel.
O: Very enjoyable offering. The pineapple/IPA fusion is working to this beers advantage. I would drink again and am glad to have tried. Cheers!

Pours a semi hazy yellow with fine, soft foam.

Smell is tropical with a big dose of pineapple to start, with some coconut, lime and mango puree in the back.

Taste is sweet and cocktail like, with lots of pineapple, some lime and rum and a mild bitterness. Pretty sweet all the way through to the slightly dry finish.

Mouthfeel is medium, soft and well carbonated.

Overall, a very interesting beer, which really comes across as a Mai Tai with pineapples and beer.
