Collaboration with Amplified Ale Works
Collaboration with Amplified Ale Works for their 5th Anniversary. Bright, fruity nose that smells like opening a fresh bag of hops; lychee, papaya, grapefruit, pineapple notes that are unadulterated from a clean fermentation with a neutral ale strain. Thick, pillowy & bodacious mouthfeel courtesy of Mecca Grade hard red wheat and some malted barley in conjunction with American two row malt.
Hops: Mosaic, Simcoe, El Dorado

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass
A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves plenty of beautiful lacing.
S: Fruit salad, tropical and orchard fruit lead the way, citrus, a little pine, floral notes, biscuity bready malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Big ripe tropical and orchard fruit, grilled pineapple, pear, watermelon, papaya, apricot, peach, cherry, and lychee, underlying pine and citrus, lime, grapefruit, and tangerine, floral notes, biscuity bready malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: A touch on the lighter side of medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Took me a while to pick this one apart and really put my finger on everything that's going on in there. Super unique, but I'm really not a big fan of what El Dorado brings to the table and it kinda takes over here. Not a bad beer, I can see others liking it more than I do, but it's really not my thing. Rare ASB beer where I would turn down a second pint.

Had this in late 2018. Never heard of Amplified Ale Works.
This is one of those ipas that look similar to orange juice. Equal parts beer & OJ 1:1 results in a darker shade of orange. 1/3" white head. Notes of berry, papaya, pineapple, grapefruit. Gonna boost this a tad in the appearance because of the great logo and likeness. Smells like those proprietary hops.
Taste, this is interesting, no doubt, this is chock full of hops, and not just the cheap ones. But it also pushes this lightly malty but not any heavier for it edge to it that has that pillowy feel without being excessive or trubby when it comes to the alternamalts of oats/wheat/red wheat. Good portion of tropical fruit throughout the mouth feel. At this abv, also does a real good job of remaining crushable as if it was a pale ale as opposed to bordering on dipa territory.
Yet another example in a long line of great hoppy beers from Alvarado that rival anybody, anywhere. Wish they were closer or shipped to my door.

Wyld Stallyns pours a murky and cloudy, gentle yellow with a foamy and dense head with minimal lacing. The smell is sweet citrus and tropical fruit that comes off very juicy, lots of pineapple, grapefruit and candied mango. The taste starts with a bit of dank bitterness up front with a juicy mix of pineapple, orange, grapefruit and mango with a candied sweetness. Creamy and smooth over the palette.

From a can. [insert air guitar hand gesture].
Pours a pleasant cloudy with a generous cap that dies down, leaving a gentle lacing.
There’s a gentle pineapple—and whipped topping and pineapple—note on the nose. Soft when sipped, with more of that creamsicle pineapple taste. I liked it.

Canned 10/29/18.
L: pours vibrant hazy yellow in color. A frothy dense figures width cap with minimal lacing.
S: a ton of candied fruit on the nose. Very tropical and juicy. Heavy on mango and pineapple, with aromas of grapefruit, tangerine and black pepper.
T: mango, papaya, pineapple and grapefruit are dominant flavors. Slight lingering fruit sweetness in after taste. Yeast present on the flavor with mild pine on the finish. Very nice.
F: soft bodied but fairly high carbonation that is inhibiting this beer from having that prime NEIPA feel. Doesn’t keep it from being a bad feeling beer however.
O: I know palates are different but I find this beer quite enjoyable. Very fruit-forward and juicy as many would hope from NEIPAs. If the carbonation was lower it would be fantastic. I am very glad to have tried. Cheers!

From a 16oz can stamped 10/29
First thig first. I am rating to style like usual. It is listed as an “American IPA”. It should obviously be a NE Style.
Second. I hate NE Style. At least the recent iterations. That being said, as a hazy ipa, I would be around 4 or better because it actually has some bitterness and a hoppy profile to it, and doesn’t have that overwhelming biting yeast, or chalkiness.
It is a turbid pineapple juice with a splash of cola looking beer. It has a little bit of dank, green body odor to it. Guessing there has to be Simcoe and/or mosaic. It is on top of a sweet malt base. Not a lactose beer sweet, but pretty sugary.
Unfortunately the flavor is overtaken by a ton of fruit. Pineapple, orange, passion fruit, pink grapefruit... you name it, it’s probably there. There is just enough green pine and bitterness to keep it from being unenjoyable. Definitely a lingering “green” flavor though along with the sweet oats and dough malts.
Body is creamy, fluffy, airy. Some oily resin at the end with a bit of drying pithyness.
Again, as a straight up ipa, not real good. As a hasy ipa, one of the better from my standpoint.
