Minesweeper was our first ever brewed IPA and remains a local favorite at our Monterey Brewpub. With Juicy Sweeper we've taken the same beer and employed an expressive yeast to bring bright tropical & stone fruit notes along with the usual heavy handed dose of Simcoe & Citra.

Light and opaque lemon-yellow body, topped with a good, strong head with excellent retention and nice lacing.
Very bright and herbal nose, with pine, resin, pepper, and oregano complementing stone fruit, mango, pineapple, and mandarin orange. Mild grass and dankness, with biscuit, banana, and honey from the malt base and yeast.
More dank and herbal on the palate than expected, but still fairly moderate in both respects. Less strength to the juicier tones, which could be a function of age (in particular with Citra). Some pineapple, mango, and peach, along with mandarin orange. Grapefruit peel and lemon finish, accented by stone fruit.
Creamy and smooth, very lively. An excellent balance of softness and liveliness for a beer clocking in the 7-7.5% ABV range.
This beer represents among the best of the style for mouthfeel. Flavor-wise, it doesn't bring anything new to the table, but it's a delicious and very enjoyable beer nonetheless.

Sweet, orange/grapefruit-citrus, slightly dank hoppy aromatics on this one! Nice "juicy" nose...Taste follows with subtly sweet orange juice notes up front followed by a grapefruit-citrus hop bite. Just straight orange juicy goodness with fantastic depth and mouthfeel. Great stuff!

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery glass
A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a thin layer and leaves a little spotty lacing.
S: Ripe citrus, tropical, and stone fruit, a little pine, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Mix of juicy tropical fruit and citrus, tangerine, mango, passion fruit, peach, apricot, and lemon lime, a little pine, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate, but also with a touch of hop burn.
O: 2 of my favorite hops coming together in a really tasty brew. Need to revisit Mine Sweeper to see how it compares.

L: Pours milky honey gold in color. Hazy appearance, zero clarity. No head formation or lacing, just a nice looking NEIPA color-wise, something ASB does very well.
S: Aromas of apricot, lemon, yeast and black pepper with hints of bubble gum sweetness. Smells bright and inviting.
T: Also nice. Nice amounts of bubble gum and citrus flavor coming through with a crackery yeast presence. Finish is slightly hop green with some grass and lemon flavor.
F: Light in body, light to medium in weight. Moderate carbonation for the style.
O: A very enjoyable brew from ASB, and at a manageable abv. I wouldn't call it mindblowing or even close to the best IPA that ASB has brought to the table, but it is a worthy addition to the roster. I am very grateful to have tried. Cheers!

Updated 7/24/19 release, consumed 7/25/19
Pretty much everything is better than the first time, especially the feel - much softer & smoother with no burn, bite, or anything. Aroma & flavor have also taken a step up in degree. Great improvement.

Juicy & dank hoppy ASB hazy. Hazy & cloudy yellow, but not a lot to see in terms of head and lacing. Aroma is a bit on the lighter side. Tastes of citrus, stonefruits, and piney/herbal notes. Feel is medium with a bit of sharp, apparent alcohol, low/med bitterness. Solid hazy but probably towards the back end of their lineup.
