On tap at beermongers today.
The beet pours an opaque whitish golden amber color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is unusual and quite exotic, as I pick up lime juice, coco krispies, coconut and a boatload of tropical fruit. The flavor profile replicates the nose, and given that this is supposed to be an ipa, I'm a bit surprised by how sweet this beer is. There's definitively something of a tropical fruit milkshake quality to this beer, which is interesting and unusual. Interesting for sure, but hard to imagine drinking lot of this. Mouthfeel is fairly full, with absolutely no bitterness on the finish. Alcohol is very well integrated into the flavor profile, though you can tell it's up there a bit.
An impressive effort, though I'm not sure this is exactly my cup of tea. Am honestly not sure if would ever order this again... But I might!

Very Tasty brew...thick and hazy,, the color of fresh squeezed pineapple juice, Poured from a 16oz can into a fieldwork IPA glass... The milk sugar definitely present and compliments the lime and coconut flavors... The hops and coconut stick to your tongue in a nice way, allowing the flavor to linger Those kaffir lime leaves taste fresh and organic, not artificial or overpowering...I had 4 cans and its pretty clear that this beer needed to sit for awhile... as the first 3 were far too fresh and green and the flavors weren't as present as the last can. My last can was the best and had the best balance of flavors, and I could actually taste the toasted coconut for once.
Still tasty and a damn good Milkshake DIPA.... But it definitely needed some time on the can to really develop. I have edited this review to reflect the last can I had and not the first 3, which left me underwhelmed.
If you have can of this, let them rest awhile, sit on them and come back to them, and this seems common with any coconut brewed IPA (I. E Fieldworks Coconut Milk IPA was the same way)
Hurt
Another great release from Alvarado St, doing coconut IPAs right isn't an easy task... but these giys nailed it! I only wish I had more.
