Collaboration with Other Half Brewing Co.
Our friends from Other Half Brewing in Brooklyn came out West to collaborate on a Double IPA engineered for a tremendously oily, dank hop profile with a blend of Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic & Idaho 7. We used a more neutral hybrid yeast strain to focus all the attention on the hops in this one.

It’s a hazy one, cloudy creamy with a dense foamy cap. Nice, bright aroma—pineapple and honeydew melon, along with some white wine grape. The sip follows, with a soft body and rounded bitterness. Clean finish, and it lacks that hop bite that can appear in fresh hazies.

Pours a creamy looking pineapple color. 2 finger white head. Retention is ok, but not amazing. Some lacing on the glass.
The nose is very full of pineapple. There's hints of grapefruit and mango as well.
Taste - very pineapple forward. Rich and full of it. On the backside the mango, and grapefruit flavors kick in.
Very "soft" feeling. Very tropical feeling. Very juicy feeling. Full bodied.
Solid double IPA. Great to try if you're an IPA fan.

Thanks go to @jayorear for sending this my way, it’s really good.
Not going to tell you anything new, but here is my review anyway.
Poured a lovely butter amber color and opaqueness with a head that was as close to white as I have seen.
The aroma hit as soon as the top was popped- couldn’t be specific really as there seemed to be several things going on and I couldn’t separate them, but they smelled great!
The taste, very nice- I have not had anything quite like it but the taste of papaya and then dry white wine (more of a feel than a flavor if that makes sense) which cuts the sweet right off.
The feel is very pleasant, so smooth and encompassing. Like it fills the mouth. (Or maybe I am gulping. Sue me)
OA, wow, really tasty and enjoyable and I so wish it was a bomber and not a pint, but very happy to have been able to try it at all. Thanks Jay!

Pours a big, frothy white head, even from a moderate pour, clocking in around 2 3/4 fingers from the initial pour. A second pour finishes off the can, and produces another 1+ finger of foam. Retention and lacing are excellent. Body is an opaque, pulpy, dark orange-yellow, like very ripe peach or mango. No visible sediment.
Nose is dominated by green herbal notes: bright Italian herbs, leaves, dankness, and pepper. Impressively pungent. Tropical fruit lie beneath, perhaps mango, passionfruit, and pineapple, along touches of mint, flower, orange, berry, and lemon, but they're rather hard to extract. It's a potent and impressive nose, but not perhaps up my alley.
Flavor is definitely more sweet and juicy, although there's plenty of dank herbal notes, growing throughout the sip. Grape, pear, peach, mango, mint, cream, basil, pineapple. This is on the moderate-to-high level of dankness; very noticeable, but not extreme. Fairly sweet; low bitterness.
Lively feel with plenty of sting, but equally full-bodied, soft, and creamy. Long oily hop finish, but with very muted tones of juicy tropical fruit: pineapple, mango, and peach. Has a way of filling the mouth, and the sting is just enough to keep you from savoring it too long.

Initial taste rating, review to follow once they've got a bit more age on them.
Can roughly 2 weeks old into an imperial nonic pint.
L: Pours murky orange bronze with 2 fingers of medium density white head with good retention and left substantial mixed lacing.
A: White grapes lead the way, then dankness and underlying berries. Nose pops, loved it.
T: Taste follows the nose, buy not quite as dynamic. White grapes from the Nelson dominate, subtle berry elements. Mild bitterness and slight acidity, acidity lingers on the palate.
F: Outstanding, full and fluffy, just slightly hindered by lingering subtle acidity.
O: Great hazy brew, but you have to love Nelson hops. Just wish the acidity was lighter. I'd rank it higher than this year's Nelson Baby! but not above the 2018 batch. And it leaves Nelson Slayer way behind in its wake.

Wow! I'm trying not to overreact...but, but this is OUTSTANDING!!! It pours with a crisp, white, strong and prominent head...great color. It has a wonderful, tropical-hoppy, yeasty-dank nose! Taste follows with a pillowy, soft-on-the-palate finish...can you believe it gets softer as it warms?! Great depth and a well-balanced, hoppy, dank...slightly citrusy bitterness on the swallow that grabs at and lingers on palate and back of the tongue. I mean dude...
(1/6/21 Batch) 4.5/4.75/4.75/5/4.75
Sweet white wine grape, bready/biscuity, citrus and piney-dank nose on this one! Taste follows with a sweet, tropical hoppy, and subdued orange-grapefruit citrus bitter finish. This is just outstandingly soft on the palate...you can definitely feel that OH influence on the mouthfeel! I'm impressed with the balanced hop profile...Nelson and Mosaic play equal but major rolls and the Idaho 7 is there, but takes a back seat. This is absolutely fantastic!

Holy crap wow this is a pretty friggin' amazing Nelson-featured hazy DIPA. I've been drinking quite a bit of their Nelson Baby! & Nelson Slayer recently, and I'd have to put this above them.
