Imperial stout aged in rum barrels for 18 months with coconut and macadamia nuts (draft board @ Alvarado stated that there is also vanilla - but vanilla is not listed as an adjunct on the bottle label). 18% ABV. Pours jet black with very little head, virtually no carbonation. Nice, viscous legs left on the glass. Aroma is of a subtle, earthy nuttiness with hints of marshmallow. Taste is amazing! Maple up front, toasted marshmallow on the back end. Mouthfeel is perfect, soft, fluffy and rich - highly decadent! ABV is well hidden - virtually no heat. Absolutely terrific!!
I've always appreciated Alvarado's IPA game - and now they've proven their dessert stout game is to be just as appreciated. I really hope they brew this one again - because I just drank my last bottle.
