A Salinas-style IPA that's double dry hopped with a dank oil-rich blend of Riwaka, Waimea, HBC 1019, Citra and Simcoe Cryo. Fermented with a more neutral yeast strain than our typical hazy IPAs to facilitate some honest, in your face, hop expression. Bright citrus notes and a deep earthy herbaceous quality are tied together with spicy papaya and boozy pineapple. Murky for sure, but not heavy. The subdued bitterness and touch of bready malt character may keep things balanced and easy drinking, but we backed that up with an elevated ABV that demands respect. This is how we do in Salinas.

Can from lupulo Santa Cruz.
Fresh drop.
Look: hazy yellow-orange with thick creamy head.
Smell: herbal berries, Dank. Wet Freshly mowed grass.
Taste: fruitiness, but like a berry and cream sweetness. Overripe cantaloupe. Too sweet.
Feel: juicy and creamy, almost like lactose or oats were added.
Overall: this might be pleasurable to some, but too sweet, pillowy and dank for me.

I had this fresh on tap.
Pours a hazy cloudy color. Light aroma, with a sweet juicy fruit note. Taste matches aroma, with some fluffy, pillowy finish.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery beer glass
A: Pours hazy golden orange amber with a frothy eggshell white head that hangs around, slowly settles to a firm layer, and leaves some thick lacing.
S: Bubblegum, big tropical and stone fruit, citrus, berries, spicy floral notes, a little pine, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Bubble gum that grows stronger as it warms, earthy citrus, lemon and tangerine, tropical fruit, papaya, guava, apricot, nectarine, mango, and pineapple, hints of fresh blueberries, a little resinous pine, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate.
O: I likely would have given this one a bit higher score if I drank it faster. Initially, there was a flavor hidden in there that I couldn't quite put my finer on, but was a nice compliment to the others. As it warmed that flavor became noticeably stronger until it was quite obviously bubble gum from the Mosaic. Not a bad flavor, but it grew a little stronger than I would have liked. Still, a very solid and definitely very unique beer.

L: Pours a bright and lovely hazy yellow with a finger of a bubbly white cap. Head settled quickly leaving behind generous amounts of residual lacing, coating the glass like a bride's veil. The color, clarity, and lacing are all great looking.
S: Big aromas of berry, with with blueberry and blackberry really standing out. Lemon, mango and pineapple also come to mind, with a lemongrassy presence in the background. Mild yeast aroma on the nose.
T: This beer screams mosaic hops. Big lemon and berry flavor with a crackery yeast foundation. Black pepper, citrus and yeast on the finish with a berry and lemongrassy after taste with hints of pine sap and hop goodness.
F: Light in body and lighter in terms of weight as well. At 7 abv, this is in a range I find very favorable. Not soft and creamy but rather light and refreshing with the appropriate amounts of carbonation. No booze flavor.
O: I'm not sure if it is because I haven't had an Alvarado beer in a while, but this is really tasting good. The abv is in my preferred zone, and this is something that would quench some serious thirst on a hot day. I am very glad to try. Cheers!

ASB DDH hazy = automatic pickup. Continues ASB recent run of outstanding hazies with a terrific feel that's unmatched by most other breweries around here. Another terrific hop combo in Mosaic & Loral.
