Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery glass

A: Pours nearly black with a faint mahogany hue and a frothy rich cocoa brown head that settles to a thin layer and leaves a little nice lacing.

S: Roasty, spicy, coffee and dark chocolate, earthy, toasty bready malt, and toffee sweetness.

T: Beautifully roasty, dark chocolate and coffee, earthy, a bit of spice, hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and maybe even vanilla, faintly nutty, and plenty of toffee sweetness.

M: Full body, moderate carbonation, just a touch of alcohol warmth.

O: Pretty much exactly what I'm looking for in a bigger stout. Great depth of flavor for a non-pastry imperial stout.

Purchased locally from the hometown brewery, poured from 16 ounce can. Deep dark almost black pour with Sofia Vergara head (tan, thin but beautiful) and Austin Powers nose ('it's a bit nutty'). Notes of coffee, roasted malt on the smell and taste. Malty for sure, little hop character (duh), nothing out of the ordinary. Good mouthfeel, coffee lingers on back of the tongue, alcohol is not predominant, which is good. I'm super-partial to porters and stouts brewed with vanilla...if this was, I think I would like it a bit more. As is, solid but not earthshaking.
