Had Revengeful Barbarian poured from pint can, bottom stamped "CANNED ON 02/03/2021" and "VALHALLA AT YOUR BOY," gift from and muled to Mississippi by little brother, into nonic pint.
Pours bright pineapple-orange juice gold with 1-finger, near-white head, which quickly dissipates to a persistent film, leaving only a little sketchy lace. Aroma of sweet citrus and mild resin off the pour, with stone fruits pear and mild peach joining as warms, and also a bit floral. Begins with mild carbonation and malt, then some mild citrus followed by resin, leading into a crisp, bitter, somewhat citrusy even lime finish.
I haven't said this lately, and perhaps that's a shame, but this is a big yet balanced IPA. It is not showy or extreme, but partakes from the innovations of both coasts, and is perhaps even a model for the contemporary American DIPA.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery glass
A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves some light lacing.
S: Tons of ripe tropical and stone fruit, hints of melon, a touch of pine, a little citrus, faint floral notes, biscuity malt, and caramel honey sweetness.
T: Tropical and stone fruit lead the way, passion fruit, papaya, guava, mango, peach, apricot, lychee, and hits of melon and berries, some spicy pine, a little citrus, lemon, lime, and orange, slightly floral, biscuity malt, and caramel honey sweetness.
M: A bit on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, kinda sticky.
O: I feel like a couple more IBUs to balance the sweetness would have helped. Overall it's solid, but I think I like the original Vengeful Barbarian a little better.
