- 2020: Hazy Double IPA with Southern Hemisphere magic; Nelson Sauvin & Riwaka, two of our absolute favorites, 2020 crop that just landed at our brewery from New Zealand’s Freestyle Farms.
- 2021: The 2021 crop of the Southern Hemisphere's finest hops collide for maximum tropical diesel in this raw, juicy Double IPA. Featuring New Zealand's Freestyle Waimea & Nelson Sauvin, and Australian Galaxy & Vic Secret.
- 2022: A juicy, hazy Double IPA that showcases the freshest, hand-selected lots of Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka & Waimea hops.
- 2024: This Hazy Double IPA is one of our most ambitious Southern Hemisphere hop showcases to date. It features eight different lots of five different hop varieties sourced from four different growers. Together, Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka, Waimea, NZ Cascade and Manalita. Dry hopped with nearly 426 lbs of hops. (See what we did there?)
- 2025: A blend of Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka, Waimea, Egger's Special, NZ Cascade, and Nectaron deliver an immersive, almost overwhelming, blur of spicy passion fruit, mango creamsicles, pineapple infused Sauv Blanc, sticky flower, and fresh squeezed OJ.

2023 batch w/ Strata & Galaxy

Hazy yellow, white foam.

OJ, capri sun, galaxy.

Like it smells: bright & tropical. Would've guessed Citra instead of Strata. Galaxy stands out, IMO.

Surprisingly dry. Some bitterness would be nice.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery pint glass

A: Pours hazy golden amber with an off white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.

S: Big jammy tropical and stone fruit presence mixed with classic Nelson gooseberry and white grape, some citrus, a hint
of pine, subtle floral and grassy notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Tropical, exotic, and stone fruit, gooseberry, guava, passion fruit, papaya, mango, white grape, peach, apricot, candied pineapple, and a hint of banana candy and melon, some citrus, tangerine and lemon lime, a touch of pine, slightly grassy, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: On the fuller end of medium body, moderate carbonation but lively enough to keep it from getting too thick, soft and smooth on the palate, alcohol is very well hidden for 9%.

O: I'm always down to try a good Nelson IPA, but lately I find myself really enjoying ones that don't just scream the same exact flavor profile, but build around that unmistakable Nelson contribution. This one definitely does that and ends up offering a really unique and enjoyable experience.

Hazy yellow color. I thought a juicy IPA is west coast style, but it’s actually hazy. The foam is medium coarse, medium size. It’s smells like honey, mango and pineapple sweet fruity. It starts sweet, shows strong pineapple, mango and honey aroma, echo its smell. It’s full bodied. When I sip it again, I get more of those sweet tropical fruitiness along with grape must, tangerine juice, ripe melon, overripe banana, brandy liquor, dates, coconut liquor aroma. The ester aroma is so strong, which recalls some strong golden ale. It’s smooth, and most importantly not bitter. I think it well fit the juicy IPA’s name, it literally taste like juice, not just because the hops but more likely because the yeast. The melon and pineapple like ester bomb recalls the Stonehenge DIPA from Deschutes brewery, which also have this ester bomb, but that DIPA is much more bitter than this. The Southern HEMI is delicious strong ale dry hopped with all the tropical goodness from hops. This is a unique experience, overthrow the relatively repetitive hazy IPA things.

Pours that murky cloudy orange gold, hazy as all get out. The aroma is bursting with notes of pineapple, guava, and white grape. Soft, almost pillowy feel, with more of that cotton candy grape note on the palate. Well executed if not spellbinding.

Sweet white wine grape, tropical hoppy, and grapefruit citrus-dank nose on this one. Taste follows with a balanced, tropical hoppy, and orange-grapefruit citrus bitter swallow...as it warms, a tropical and piney hoppy-dank vibe starts to appear and it's great! There is a soft and luscious mouthfeel on this bad boy! Please stay in this lane ASB! Please!!! This is great!

Batch 3 Canned 12/29/21: Sweet white wine grape, slightly malty, juicy orange citrus, and slight hoppy-dank dank nose on this one! Taste follows with a tropical hoppy, and grapefruit citrus bitter finish...some orange juicy boozy notes show up as it warms...a little hoppy-nuttiness starts to show up as well, but it's not off-putting in any way. This is nice and soft on the palate.! Great batch!
