Tropical IPA conditioned on Mandarin orange puree. Remember Orangina soda? It's A LOT like that.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery beer glass
A: Pours hazy golden mandarin orange amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a thin layer and leaves a little spotty lacing.
S: Big sweet mandarin orange dominates, light tropical and stone fruit, more bright citrus, a hint of pine, biscuity malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.
T: Tons and tons of mandarin orange juice, takes some looking to find the beer, but there's a little extra tropical fruit and citrus, hints of mango, lemon lime, guava, and apricot, faint pine, crackery malt, and caramel sweetness. The base beer slowly works its way out on the back end as it warms.
M: A bit on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation
O: I hate to say it, but they went overboard with the juice on this one. Previous Mai Tai PA variants got a nice bump from their fruit additions, but as an accent to the base beer. The mandarin orange juice here totally overwhelms. It actually took a while for the base beer to poke through. Drinks more like an orange soda than an IPA with mandarin orange. Would work as a weekend breakfast beverage, but not what I'm looking for in a beer.
