We had some fun with this one...especially Dave's inner monologue. Inspired by a line in the new Borat moviefilm, and our longing for calculator watches from another era, we somehow came up with this Pale Ale concept. And it's awesome!! Riwaka hops from New Zealand...have we told you how ridiculous this variety is? To us it has all the gooseberry, lychee, passionfruit diesel character that Nelson Sauvin has but with a certain x factor that's hard to describe. Pairing it up with Citra was a total win, at double dry hop rates amid a base that included flaked and hard red wheat from Mecca Grade for plenty of mouthfeel.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery beer glass
A: Pours hazy golden straw with a frothy off white head that slowly settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Tropical and stone fruit, solid hit of citrus, slightly grassy and resinous, crackery biscuity malt, and a little caramel sweetness.
T: Bright mix of citrus and tropical fruit, lime, lemon, grapefruit, gooseberry, passion fruit, apricot, mango, peach, and a hint of lychee, a bit resinous and grassy, crackery malt, and just a touch of sweetness.
M: Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Not as intense as a lot of their other hazy southern hemisphere hop bombs, but this is a pale ale, not an IPA, and by that standard it's rather solid.
