This special batch of Contains No Juice has been fermented with an expressive yeast that’s been bioengineered by Berkeley Yeast to crank up the tropical vibes by promoting the biotransformation of bound thiols! Thiols are natural molecular compounds that are responsible for the aroma and flavor we taste in many things - fruit, wine and even beer (as some hops naturally contain thiols). Specifically, we’re focusing on the 3MH thiol (short for 3-mercaptohexan) which is linked to passionfruit, guava and grapefruit flavors. Which we’ve augmented with a*triple* dry hopped load of Mosaic, Citra & Nelson Sauvin!

I don’t know the specifics behind what makes this a unique version of the CNJ that helped put Alvarado on the map, and in some ways I’m surprised it’s only their 7th anniversary. Means I’m getting old, and that I’ve been tuned into them earlier than I thought.
The beer pours with a terrific turbidity. Foam dissipates, but the white-gold liquid in the glass nails the NEIPA style perfectly.
The aroma hits all the familiar notes, with a characteristic vegetal hint on the back. I expected something big and citrusy, but it’s reigned in and subdued. Creamy, smooth, barely perceptible bitterness, with more of the POG notes on the sip.

3 week old can

I'll submit a formal review from another can. Wasn't 'wowed' by anything, except maybe the lacing. Too old perhaps for in-your-face aroma from triple DH? Definitely scary crushable for 8.5%.

2nd can was similarly underwhelming. I'd take reg CNJ or CNJ 2017 over this, both seemed more dynamic for my palate and preferences.
