Introducing a new twist to our Hazy IPAs: the Thiol Turbo Boost™ (TTB). Laser Phocus is the first beer with this treatment, which is essentially the confluence of two new elements, among a few other proprietary techniques. It starts with a product called Phantasm freeze dried Sauvignon Blanc grape skins from New Zealand that are loaded with Thiol precursors. Then we utilize a bioengineered yeast strain from Berkeley Yeast which takes Thiol precursors and transforms them into thiol compounds during fermentation, which are responsible for the flavors and aromas you find in passionfruit, mango, guava and other tropical fruits. Pair it up with hops that have high levels of thiols already (like Nelson Sauvin & Mosaic), and we’re in business! Laser phocused, in fact, on bringing you the juiciest hop flavors imaginable, and this is a first step in that direction!
