This is a Hazy IPA brewed with an expressive yeast strain called Sundew from our friends at @omegayeast. Fermentation produces flavors of strawberry, passion fruit and stone fruit, which we’ve coupled with a unique dry hop to produce a single hazy IPA that’s quite different from our usual offerings in this vein. Integrated with Columbus for some dank pine-resin, along with New Zealand Cascade for a whiff of sweet lime, we’ve then added Citra lupulin cryo hops and candy-like El Dorado to tie this one together and complement the esters produced from this incredibly unique yeast strain. The overall balance of this IPA is something we’ve noted in this beer — there’s a fullness and high level of mouthfeel that is coalesced by hop flavor and a moderate bitterness.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass

A: Pours hazy golden orange amber with a frothy cream white head that (at least with my can) takes forever to settle from the pour to a firm layer that leaves some thick lacing.

S: Ripe tropical, orchard, and stone fruit, faint berries, juicy citrus, a little spicy pine, grassy notes, floral hints, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Bright sweet tropical and stone fruit, pineapple, peach, mango, strawberry, watermelon, apricot, passion fruit, and pear, citrus, orange, lime, and lemon, a bit of resinous pine, slight grassy and floral notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: A touch on the fuller side of medium body, mild carbonation, super soft and creamy.

O: This can somehow managed to hide in my fridge so I was a little worried when I pulled it out, checked the date, and saw that it was just over 3 months old. Figured I would still give it a chance, if it wasn't up to snuff I wouldn't score it. Obviously, it held up well to say the least. Super unique flavor combo. I've gotta give a lot of credit to what that yeast brings to the table. I'm not normally big on some of the stuff El Dorado brings, but it plays very nicely here. Really, I think that pillowy soft body is the star of the show.
Gotta retry this one the next time they brew it just to make sure it is as good as I think it is right now.
