Dust off your finest dungarees for this Skazy Double IPA collabo with our friends from Austin, TX, Pinthouse Brewing! This is a mashup of our two breweries’ styles and although hazy in appearance, it’s much drier with an integrated bitterness that lends balance. We’ve included the classic combination of Simcoe & Mosaic hops, as well as a new lupulin concentrated product called Cryo Pop for added depth. A neutral, German Alt strain keeps emphasis on the hops oils, imparting intense grapefruit, peach, and mango notes with a bit of pineapple candy!

It’s orange color, half hazy, with a lot of bubbles gathering in glass wall. The foam is medium coarse and rich. It smells floral and hoppy, showing sweet spring fruit tree blossom, pine cone, peach and mango fruity noses. The beer is medium body, lightly sweet, not bitter. It’s a less hazy tropical IPA, the aroma consists of arugula, yellow peach, (light) mango, (light) passion fruit, lager’s ester (banana), melon, resinous pine aromas. The taste is mildly sweet, but then the bitter comes back after the middle part, and turns dry at the end. There’s a bit of hops burn in a bigger gulp. The yeast profile is tropical, and shows banana bread’s ester note. The hops have some diesel (arugula) hint, and leaves the peach mango fruitiness. There’s some caramel and malty aroma, not in every sip, but that’s some west coast double IPA’s character, and it’s doing well here adding complexity. It’s a double IPA in between west coast and east coast style it seems. It’s not bad collaboration.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass
A: Pours hazy golden orange amber with a frothy eggshell/khaki head that slowly settles to a firm layer and leaves plenty of thick lacing.
S: Fruit salad, tropical, stone fruit, melon, and berry, some citrus, a bit of resinous pine, a hint of diesel, bready malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Full fruit stand sampler, little bit of everything going on, pineapple, mango, strawberry, peach, apricot, passion fruit, grapefruit, orange, lemon, and papaya, a little Southern Hem diesel, resinous pine, bready malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: On the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly creamy.
O: There is a ton going on in this one, lots of different fruits come out to play. My only real gripe is they are all kinda fighting with each other and not really letting anything in particular shine. Solid, but I won't be campaigning for a rebrew in the future.
