For batch sixteen of our Collaboration Motor Oil series, we’ve teamed up with our Northern California friends at Moksa Brewing to create this 11.2% Imperial Stout that draws upon Moksa’s experience of sourcing worldly, exotic ingredients. The earthy and rich banana flavor of wild Thai bananas melts into a sea of delectable fudgy goodness generously topped with freshly roasted almonds. The dark fruit, bittersweet roast and gentle boozy warmth of our Motor Oil base seamlessly blends and deepens the experience of each flavor without allowing any single one to dominate each contemplative sip.

Sweet chocolate-covered banana, hint of vanilla, and hint of nutty almond nose on this one! Taste follows with some sweet banana and chocolate malty vibes upfront...and then a nutty vanilla, chocolate bitter finish. I have to say that I'm a little disappointed with this...these two breweries with a stout collab should knock it out the park. IMO, this doesn't, unfortunately...the bitter chocolate notes on the backend clash with the banana a bit. This makes the banana take on a slight medicinal/artificial note. I was hoping that it would come together better as it warmed, but, it did not...the chocolate bitterness just became more pronounced. This falls short of what I would expect from this collab and the Motor Oil series.

On tap at the source in Monterey- deep dark brown with minimal head. Nose is roasty malt with hints of banana and vanilla . Taste follows with more vanilla up front and hints of banana, cacao and almond. Collaboration with Moksa Brewing. Pretty tasty but a bit thin on the finish.
