Loosely inspired by Bananas Foster, we built a blend of complex Munichwines (a strong ale similar to Barleywine but brewed only with Munich malt) aged in Barbados Pot Still Molasses Rum barrels and conditioned said blend upon Thai bananas, Mexican vanilla beans, & toffee bits. What this produced is nothing short of stunning. Fan of beautiful, finely aged rums? This one is for you. Notes of caramelized banana, vanilla frosted rum cake, and orgeat weave among waves of toffee and caramel, revealing a truly luxurious, dessert laden beer.

Turbid brown, a little darker than milk chocolate, with absolutely no head to conceal its filmy, syrupy surface.

At first a little off-putting, in both appearance and flavor, my perception alters as I realize it's got that Myer's Rum flavor, which makes the entire experience more approachable to my palate. This is that charred molasses and gingersnap intensity throughout the entire middle and finish. However, right up front, with every sip, you get a truly banana's foster flavor spike that just dances for a millisecond before fading into that viscosity.

While overall unusual, it's an intriguing sip.

Sweet and boozy rum-soaked raisins, faint hint of banana, and hint of oak barrel woody nose on this one! Taste follows with a syrupy-sweet caramel dark rum, hint of vanilla, and rum boozy barrel finish. As it warms, a little more banana peeks out and the booziness starts to moderate a little...definitely becomes more palatable. This is decent, but I was expecting more from the really good barrel program at ASB. This definitely needs some aging as the rum booziness tends to overshadow any or the caramel/toffee malt character I was looking for here.
