For our 9th Anniversary Westy we used every progressive hopping trick we have learned over the last 9 years to wring out every last drop of hoppy goodness from our most coveted lots of Simcoe, Mosaic, and Cascade. We also pushed this beer right up to the very edge (and maybe a step over) of what single West Coast IPA is in terms of abv and overall intensity. It is a liquid thank you in WEIPA form for all of you who have been a part of this incredible ride.

Had 9th Anniversary Westy poured from pint can, bottom stamped "CANNED ON 05/04/2023" and "IT'S OUR ANNIVERSARY," brought home by my little brother, into nonic pint.
Pours lemon-gold and a little cloudy with a huge near-white head, with excellent retention, leaving a little chunky lace down the glass. Big aroma of grapefruit off pour, then sweet stone fruit, berry, floral and earthy funk aromas, and as warms joined aromas of peach, lime and a bit of pine resin. On tasting, begins sweet stone fruit and grapefruit, over a mild but definite malty smoothness, all continuing into a mildly resinous, moderately bitter, hugely piney finish, with a little citrus and other orchard fruit after.
Lots of fruit(s) in the aroma, and to start in the tasting, but which finally bends back toward bitter, piney West Coast justice.

From a can this pours clear, light gold. The aroma is delicate, and gently approachable. Think of a fruit mélange, with hints of guava and papaya. Low bitterness, with a soft landing.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass
A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.
S: Floral, citrus zest, resinous pine, grassy slightly herbal notes, subtle tropical and stone fruit, and crackery biscuity malt,
T: Spicy herbal pine, grassy and floral notes, citrus zest, grapefruit, lemon, and tangerine, a little underlying tropical and stone fruit, passion fruit, mango, peach, apricot, and pineapple, crackery biscuity malt, and a dry finish.
M: Just a touch on the lighter side of medium body, moderate carbonation, crisp.
O: Crisp hoppy bite, yet still balanced, approachable, and even at 7.5%, crushable. A proper celebration of what ASB is capable of. Happy 9th Anniversary!
