We can’t hide our love for Nelson. So we got to wondering just how we could put more of this incredibly unique hop into a Hazy IPA. Well, we just had to make it a DOUBLE Hazy IPA of course! We got a little carried away with the dry hop and we couldn’t be happier with the results. White wine, a touch of spicy diesel, and spray of citrus support a huge rush of tropical flavored sherbet. If you give it time, the flavors will continue to unfold in surprising and delicious ways. And the mouthfeel is so lush, so extravagant- you will find yourself doing just that.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass

A: Pours hazy golden yellow amber with a frothy cream white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves plenty of thick lacing.

S: Bright punchy juicy Nelson goodness, classic gooseberry and white grape mixed with big tropical and stone fruit, a bit resinous, a touch of Southern Hem diesel, slightly grassy,

T: Quick hit of Southern Hem diesel followed by the classic white grape and gooseberry, backed with even more tropical and stone fruit, pineapple, mango, peach, apricot, guava, and passion fruit, juicy orange, a little resinous, slight grassy notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, pillowy soft and silky smooth.

O: The original Nelson, Baby! was already fantastic, and this takes it to the next level. Really shows off everything this hop brings to the party, all built on a ridiculously smooth body. Basically everything you could want from a hazy Nelson DIPA.

Yellow with some white foam.

Smells like Nelson Sauvin.

White wine I expect and a nice slight herbal note. Not subtle. A sweetness I assume is from malt.

Creamy, not much bite but NBD.

Sweet tropical hoppy, slightly malty, white wine grape, and a subdued Nelson-dank nose on this one! Taste follows with a muddled, hoppy bitter finish and not much else. This is decent, but falls way short of the all-nelson westie they released at the same time...in both flavor profile and enjoy-ability. The color is not the prettiest as well. I am actually disappointed in ASB's use of Nelson in their hazies lately.
