Our good friend Peter Hoey, the brewmaster at Urban Roots, escaped the Sacramento heat and paid us a visit. Together we crafted a thirst quenching West Coast IPA specifically designed to neutralize the effects of relentless sunshine and triple digit temperatures. An initial dry hop of Citra and Mosaic was augmented by a second addition of HBC 586, Riwaka, and Cascade. Take the load off, relax, and feel the cooling effects of each sip.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass
A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy of white head that settles to a frim layer and laces nicely.
S: Earthy, herbal, grassy, dank, citrus zest, resinous pine, tropical and stone fruit trying to peek though, and biscuity bready malt.
T: Herbal, earthy, dank, grassy, resinous pine, citrus zest, grapefruit, mandarin orange, and lime, light underlying tropical and stone fruit that slowly comes out as it warms, apricot, peach, papaya, melon, blueberry, guava, and lychee, built on a foundation of biscuity bready malt with a fairly dry finish.
M: Medium body, moderately lively carbonation, crisp and slick.
O: I think the herbal side from the HBC 586 comes in too strong to make this a truly refreshing Westy like they were aiming for. Feels more like something to get into while raking leaves.
