We brewed this Double Dry Hoped West Cost Double IPA in collaboration with our friends at North Park Beer Co. We loaded it up with berserk amounts of the most potent hop weaponry at our disposal. The result is oily and complex, with flavors hiding around every corner waiting to catch you by surprise. If it gets too intense, you can always take a break and listen to that sweet, sweet, pause music before diving back into the action.

Hops: Mosaic, Nelson, Citra, Riwaka, HBC 586

Had Pause Screen Music poured from pint can, bottom stamped "CANNED ON : 10/26/2023" and "WITH A GOLDENEYE," birthday gift from my little brother, into nonic pint.

Pours cloudy lemon-gold with huge, creamy off-white head, with excellent retention, leaving thick Belgian lace etched down the glass. Initial burst of floral aroma from can, and earthy, spicy, lime and sweet citrus aromas off pour, joined by aromas of mild pine, blueberries, peach and (pink) grapefruit as warms. On tasting, begins mildly fruity, with a little hop spice and dry malt, over what is initially a seltzer-like body, but grows ever thicker, more mouth-coating, and mango-like, before an herbally-crisp, generic citrus rind, somewhat resinous, but not very bitter finish.

Oddly executed beer despite the big hop bill, as there are a lot of mild aromas, but they step on each other, there is a strange, off-putting mouthfeel, and there is not enough flavor or West Coast bite.

Picked up a can of this because I thought maybe the gamer kid would get a sensible chuckle out of the name. Nothing lasts forever and we both know hearts can change. Logo lifted from Goldeneye I would guess.

When I read about double dry hopped Nelson beers, I get excited, and throw Alvarado Street in the mix, well, expectations run high. Pours yellow. Blew up a big 1.5" white head. For being a west coast it has decent clarity. Poured into a MKE pint glass for the Packers/Cowboys playoff game. Didn't find the Nelson aroma. More Citra up in here it very much seems like. Everybody's got a hungry heart for Nelson (that's cool).

The taste is much the same, there is light down under dankness that is pretty mild for Nelson, again, way more Citra in the dasefx on this one. Seems like the Riwaka giving us that. Mouth feel decent enough in the west coast dry light vein. For all the different hops in the hop bill, seems like more Citra than anything all the way down. It did hide the alcohol well at 8.3% was plenty drinkable.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass

A: Pours slightly hazy golden amber with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves plenty of beautiful lacing.

S: Grassy, resinous, slightly dank earthy herbal notes, citrus zest, melon, exotic, tropical, and stone fruit, a hint floral, biscuity slightly bready malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.

T: Dank herbal earthy tones, Southern hem diesel, citrus zest, lemon, grapefruit, lime, and a little tangerine, resinous pine, underlying exotic, tropical, and fruity notes, melon, papaya, gooseberry, apricot, white grape, and a hint of pineapple, a bit grassy, maybe a touch floral, biscuity malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.

M: Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, a bit chewy.

O: Took a while for this one to open up and calm down. First few sips were aggressive, and not in a way I am a fan of (probably due to what the HBC586 brings), but by the end I was into it. Polarizing, but still a solid brew.

16oz can. Stamp on can bottom reads 'CANNED ON 10/26/2023 WITH A GOLDENEYE'.
Cloudy, straw colored body. Two fingers of white head. Leaves behind a few spots of lacing.
Aroma is faint hops, with smells that are similar to mango and dish water.
Taste is bold with hops that have flavors of spruce, lemon, passion fruit, berry, and something close to white wine. Aftertaste fades quickly.
Medium mouth feel. Low bitterness, slight bite. Lower level of carbonation.
Mellow but quite involved mix of hop flavors. Collaboration with North Park Beer Co.
