We teamed up with our friends at Garage Project in New Zealand to brew up this West Coast IPA with 100% Nelson Saugvin hops. The goal was to brew something crisp and refreshing, but then let it all hang out in regards to naked Nelson hop expression. A naturalist approach, if you will. To pull this off we layered in some Nelson Cryo, Nelson Hop Kief and three different lots of Nelson T90 across multiple stages using all of the modern hopping techniques in our playbook. Gooseberry, riverstone and passionfruit are laid bare alongside a liberating display of lemongrass, spicy diesel and mango leather. Come join us, we've got nothing but our Nelson on.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass
A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Grassy, zesty citrus, resinous pine, underlying exotic, tropical, and stone fruit, biscuity slightly bready malt, and just a touch of caramel sweetness.
T: Citrus, lime and grapefruit, immediately followed by a mix of exotic, tropical, and stone fruit, gooseberry, apricot, white grape, passion fruit, peach, mango, and a hint of pineapple, a little resinous pine, spicy grassy faintly herbal notes, biscuity slightly bready malt, and just a touch of caramel sweetness.
M: Just a touch on the fuller side of medium body, moderate carbonation, fairly crisp.
O: Tasty, nicely done Westy that I'd happily drink again, but for such a complex hop and all the different forms of it that they threw at this one, I'm a little underwhelmed. Flavors just don't pop like some of their other Nelson beers.
