Hazy New Zealand IPA
We brewed this hazy IPA to celebrate our friendship with the wonderful people at Freestyle Hops and showcase the incredible hops they grow in New Zealand. Inspired by the small but MIGHTY Kei trucks that transport the freshly cut hop bines across the hop yard at harvest time, this beer is seemingly overloaded with the most recent crops Riwaka, Motueka from Sunrise Valley & Nelson Lakes hops farms, along with some killer SubZero Hop Keif, but handily delivers the tons of Southern Hemisphere goodness! A teetering payload of vibrant stone fruit, penetrating citrus and luscious tropical fruit nearly topples out of the glass at every turn. Raise a glass with us in honor of these passionate folks whose hops keep blowing our minds year, after year, after year.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass
A: Pours hazy golden yellow amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces very nicely.
S: Almost over ripe tropical and stone fruit, citrus juice, a touch floral, subtle grassy hints, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Lively ripe citrus, kumquat, lime, and grapefruit, tropical and stone fruit, pineapple juice, honeydew, papaya, apricot, peach, guava and hints of white grape, subtle floral tones, a touch grassy, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate.
O: Took me a sec to put my finger on everything I was tasting in there, but once I dialed it in it all came together.
I really wanted to love this one as I'm a sucker for NZ hops and I love the story of this brew, but I think it ended up coming off a bit too over ripe for my taste, especially the pineapple and melon notes. I generally prefer my NZ hopped beers to be more bright and zesty. That being said, it's still a good beer with a unique flavor profile that I know many will love, but it's just not my favorite.
