Black IPA isn't dead, it just went on vacation. If you are looking for caramel, coffee, cacao, and dark fruit, you ain't gonna find it here. Okay, maybe there is a tinge of roast character in there. Or is that your imagination? There is no way to tell! But hiding in the opaque depths you will find an eye opening blend of pink grapefruit, pine, tangerine, and berry flavors. And if that doesn't convince you, the lean body and a sneaky sap of bitterness definitely give this hop forward crusher away. So what if this IPA likes to wear black? It never goes out of style!

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass
A: Pours super dark brown, basically black, with a frothy desert tan head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Clean char, black coffee, stone fruit and mixed berries, resinous pine, citrus, faint super dark chocolate, and a hint of biscuity malt.
T: Right off the jump you get a strong hit of resinous pine that fades to citrus, grapefruit, tangerine, and lemon, clean char, coffee and a touch of super dark chocolate, fruity undertones, apricot, mixed berry, and plum, a little biscuity malt, and a dry finish.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, crisp.
O: Can't say that I've had a black IPA like this before. It's impressively clean and crisp for its size. Really well put together. Hits the spot in a warm spring day.
