This Salinas-style IPA strikes a sublime balance between a West Coast ripper and a sweeter, softer, Hazy IPA. We designed the grist to achieve an inviting amount of body without sacrificing drinkability and then fermented it with a neutral yeast strain so that the hops and grain could speak for themselves. Citra and Strata lend creamy orange and berries. Audacia adds a pleasant floral touch and kick of lychee that plays right into the earthy passion fruit and peach of Galaxy. A light crackery malt presence and a well hidden bitterness keep all that fruit in check. Inspired by, and brewed for, the hard working farmers of the Salinas Valley, the “Salad Bowl of the World.”

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass
A: Pours hazy golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Resinous pine, slightly dank earthy herbal notes, pretty much the full fruit stand, berries, citrus, tropical, and stone fruit, light floral notes, biscuity malt, and a little caramel sweetness.
T: Opens with dank earthy herbal notes and resinous pine, followed by a trip to the farmers market for just about every kind of fruity note, berries, citrus, tropical and stone fruit, strawberry, blackberry, blueberry, grapefruit, tangerine, passion fruit, apricot, peach, mango, pineapple, and pomegranate, light floral notes, biscuity malt, and a little caramel sweetness.
M: Just a touch on the lighter side of medium body, moderate carbonation, soft on the palate.
O: Super unique. I don't think I've ever had a beer with Audacia hops before and they play off the Strata really well. I'm curious what it would be like if they swapped the Galaxy for Mosaic, not that "Salad Bowl" needs another recipe change... It is indeed a fitting tribute to the region's farming prowess.
