For those looking to leave the bright lights and tireless noise of Hazy IPA behind, there is a place just off Interstate 8 where many a weary traveler has found a place to rest up and settle in. This West Coast IPA is inspired by that place, brewed with a little rye, and mountains of Nelson Sauvin and Southern Cross hops from our friends at Freestyle Hops in New Zealand. A lean body and a balanced bitterness lay out the welcome mat for some serious Sauv Blanc and spicy diesel vibes before opening the door to pink grapefruit, navel orange, apricot and a little pine. Once you check in, you’ll be in no hurry to check out. Yeah, nah...stay a while.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass
A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy cream white head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Green, grassy, herbal, citrus zest, resinous pine, earthy spice, and hints for of Southern Hem diesel, with an interesting mix of exotic, tropical and stone fruit trying to cut through, faintly floral, and some biscuity bready malt.
T: Resinous pine, green grassy slightly herbal notes, a little earthy spice, a touch of Southern Hem diesel, citrus zest, lemon and lime, underlying exotic, tropical, and stone fruit, white grape, papaya, pineapple, gooseberry, apricot, and melon, biscuity bready malt, and just a hint of sweetness with a fairly dry finish.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly sticky.
O: This one's a bit disappointing. Yes there's Nelson in there, but the Southern Cross really takes the lead and I don't think you really get the best of either, only hints and flashes. I can tell it's well made and has strong bones, and while it didn't quit get there for me I wouldn't be shocked if other people liked it a bit more, but I don't think they'll fall in love with it.
