This rich & robust take on a classic was brewed with heirloom Maris Otter and a carefully selected collection of English specialty malts. This deep brown liquid supports a handsome rocky head that draws you into a cozy gathering of dark fruit, cacao dust, hearty bread crust, and almond brittle. A little something special for our dark beer loving friends just in time for winter.

Can poured into an Alvarado Street Brewery Willi Beecher glass
A: Pours rich brown with a frothy tan head that settles to a firm layer and laces nicely.
S: Roasted malt, mild earthy char, dark fruit, coffee, bittersweet chocolate, slightly toasty and nutty, and a bit of caramel toffee sweetness.
T: Roasty, mild earthy char, fresh coffee, bittersweet chocolate, a touch of dark fruit, date and plum, a bit nutty and toasty, wrapped up with a solid hit of caramel toffee sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, a bit creamy.
O: Really tasty porter that lands right in my wheelhouse. The only tweak I'd make is dropping the sweetness a touch, but as it sits it's a very easy drinking sipper and works nicely as a weekend breakfast beer.

From Good Times Oakland, canned December 23rd.
It pours a very dark brown, like cola, with a finger of tan foam, good retention and lacing.
The smell is roasted malt, some caramel malt, dark chocolate, pitted fruit but roasted malt rules the nose.
The taste is follows the nose, along with a hint of nuttiness and some lactose. It has a very nice balance between sweet and bitter.
Medium bodied, this is very good and I would drink this again.
