500 ml bottle, Batch #282. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch frothy tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, nuts, and earthiness. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma but there's also a bit of caramel and burnt/charred malt flavors noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I think this is an enjoyable porter, the bridgeporter porter is the first Marz brew I've tried but I'll make a point to pick up some more of their beers soon! $11.99 a bottle.

Now my 5th beer from Marz, I characterized them as a brewery I liked... but was waiting for them to produce a great beer.
With The Bridgeporter, the wait is over.
This is a great porter. American interpretations rely too heavily on hops and carbonation.
But Bridgeporter uses both in moderation and makes its statement with its malts.
It looks like the classic and has uneventful aromas.
But, the taste is superb; giving me that bittersweet relief from the working life... which is what a porter should do.
Find it. Buy it. Enjoy it.
I hope I do again.
