750 ml bottle poured into an English pint glass (purchased at Westmere Beverage, Albany).
The appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a nice eggshell white foamy head that slid off at a fairly nice pace. Nice sticky semi-spreading filmy foamy lace.
The aroma, well, I really had to let it warm naturally to the room temperature because I thought there was some infection going on, however, after noting a clean and robust flavor I figured the aroma was supposed to smell like this which was a dark fruity tartness rubbing on some roasty to toasty caramel and dark chocolate malts and then some toasted coconut. Also noted, some light pecans came in at the very end.
The flavor was mostly a clean and robust roasty to toasty sort of caramel and dark chocolate meddling. Dark fruits do end up playing those malts pretty well. Clean roasty to toasty and sticky sweet malty aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt good. Mainly a roasty coffee bean to dark chocolate sort of finish.
Overall, let this one open up fully to room temperature before you really "delve" into this beer. In my opinion, this one will play tricks on you. Still, it's one that I would come back to.
