The listing says this is retired but Cycle had it on tap at Barrel Aged Day March 13, 2020. It was available at both tap stations and it didn't last long. I got one from each station and it seemed slightly different.

Look- A dark black with a coating of beige head that clings to the edges of the glass.

Smell- One station definitely had more strawberry aroma. Both had vanilla and bourbon mixed to perfection.

Taste- A great mix of all strawberry vanilla, bourbon, and cocoa. As it warmed the chocolate was more fudge like and barrel cut the sweetness. The first station did have less of the strawberry vanilla mix but the second one was great.

Mouthfeel- A creamy mix that lingers perfectly. It coats your tongue and leaves you wanting more.

Overall- Probably the best brew I have had from Cycle. A complex mix that works to perfection. Worth every penny to get attend the event.

Tasted from draft. Pours black with beige head. Aroma of strawberry, vanilla and cocoa. Taste is really just how you would want a neopolitan beer to taste. Not overly sweet. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Interesting and excellent tasting beer.

650ml bottle, of the 2016 release. Served in a snifter glass.

Pours a with a dark black oily flourish, one finger thick white head, very good retention and film; bits of lacing. Smell and flavour are really loopy here. First off, the smell seems to be strawberry vanilla, with varying components of the two depending on when you're smelling it. Not sure what it is, sometimes it smells like strawberry milk (like a Yoohoo), other times it smells like vanilla and bourbon, and in the background is a varying amount of chocolate and cocoa. It's strange, but damn, it is wonderful and makes you want to keep going back for more. Flavour is similarly shifty; it's delicious but difficult to nail down one flavour at a time. Strawberry milk, vanilla bean, vanillin from the barrel, oak, a good bit of bourbon sweetness but not heat, dark chocolate and fudge from the bourbon. Wonderful and actually a very complex flavour to it. Mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy and luscious, appropriately carbonated, and it's really difficult to put this down. You really do find yourself wanting to drink more after each sip. A very damn tasty beer that somehow worked despite the high potential for the adjuncts to completely fail and make this undrinkable. This is a beer I could have drank all to myself over the course of a hour. While the strawberry was more of the Yoohoo! variety, I think that works better in a beer like this than the lighter natural strawberry flavours that one initially thinks of.

At long, long last!! The year long hunt has come to an exciting end. This was worth the wait. You can somehow taste all three flavors at the same time very distinctly. A+

Just a perfect beer. The mix of flavors is incredible. Imagine the ideal cross scoop out of a pint of Neapolitan ice cream, with the barrel to balance the strawberry goodness. Do yourself a favor and get your hands on one of these.

Huge strawberry on the nose which follows through on the front end. Waves of chocolate and vanilla which just enough barrel to round things out. Mouthfeel was solid, contrary to the typical Cycle stout. Very impressive beer.

Scooooooop!! Great ice cream beer - was surprised to get as much strawberry flavor as I did, with vanilla coming through more as it warmed. Chocolate was almost an aftertaste.

2016 batch drank in a snifter on 12/9/2016

Overall this was a really enjoyable beer. The vanilla was potent and opened up more as it warmed, overtaking the strawberry which was more prevalent when colder. The combo with the chocolate was very nice. The barrel was present but didn't overpower the NEOP flavors. This was really enjoyable and I'm glad to try it. One of the thicker cycle beers finally. Creamy as well. Well done!

Got this one from desp59. Cheers!

From a bomber into a snifter
Described as Neapolitan flavor beer ice cream

APPEARANCE: Jet, opaque black pour yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, slightly fizzy, dark tan head with good retention. A little noisy this one is, but good color. Pitch black body with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full foamy cap. Splotchy wisp remains with falling dots of lacing. Good color and a dark head for the style.

SMELL: Bourbon, oak, sweet vanilla cream, milk chocolate, butterscotch and some strawberry notes. Really candy-like aroma. The vanilla and strawberry combo does indeed give off the impression of boozy ice cream, but not at all in an artificial way. Pretty enticing.

TASTE: Candy flavors up front with strawberry, vanilla cream and boozy bourbon up front. Plenty of bourbon at the swallow with booze and candy sweetness as well. A bold and lingering finish of bourbon, alcohol, strawberry flavors, sweet vanilla cream, some milk chocolate and sweet toffee as well. Plenty of sweetness here and the barrel is bold and boozy as well. Pretty tasty treat.

PALATE: Fuller body with slightly lower levels of carbonation. Creamy and weighty on the palate, goes down fine with a good scratch at the swallow and finishes quite sticky. A good amount of heat lingers. Love the thicker, silkier feel here. Slick. Awesome.

OVERALL: Great stuff. This had all the right elements in all the right amounts. The strawberry flavor worked great and didn’t overwhelm the beer, leaving plenty of space for the vanilla, chocolate and barrel character to add flavor and layers to the beer. The look and feel were top notch as well. Really glad to have been able to try this one and would gladly drink another. Cycle never ceases to impress with its adjunct and barreled stouts. Highly recommended. Thanks again desp59!

L: Bold onyx and dark brown hues with a thin sandy head
S: Bourbon, vanilla, and a bit of strawberry on the nose
T: Wow - rich milk chocolate, vanilla bean, chocolate-covered strawberries, marshmallow, strawberry syrup, and a warm, but subtle bourbon flavor
F: Full-bodied, creamy, and thick
O: Honestly when I first heard about this in late spring it sounded incredibly gimmicky and the 3 Sons hype only fueled the fire. After seeing consistently strong ratings, I managed to land a bottle and I'm extremely glad I did. Rare Scooop was one of the more complex, interesting, and well executed beers I've had in awhile. Its beautiful flavor combinations, rich nose, and creamy mouthfeel allow the stout to truly deliver on what it sets out to be: beer ice cream. Awesome.

This is one of those beers I wish I had more of, waiting in line at 3 AM and only getting one was rough, but worth it. No trading this one for me. The flavors were all there from a typical Neapolitan (chocolate, vanilla and strawberry). The strawberry being the most dominant coming through giving it a super sweet flavor. Excellent combo if you ask me, would love to see this collaboration happen again. Cycle and 3 sons are putting out phenomenal beers.

This beer is one of Corey's best! This is literally Neapolitan icecream in a glass...with Bourbon. Notes of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla balanced with the oak of the barrel.

Seek this out!

Not surprisingly this beer delivers on its' purpose. It is pretty sweet (to me) but it's supposed to be. Rich and thick. Coats the mouth and hangs around.

The most impressive part is how they send a wave of each flavor across your palate. No joke. Finishes strong with strawberry. Not a lot of bourbon barrel to come through, but it's there and a nice compliment.

On draft at Cycle. Pours pitch black with a ring of tan lacing around the edge of the glass. Chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream are obvious on the aroma and taste. Each is distinct on it's own and they blend together beautifully. Doesn't taste artificial. Drinks rich, smooth, and sweet just like and ice cream sunday, but it's not just a one note dessert beer. Roasted malt comes in especially on the finish, and the barrel character is perfect for this style. The oak provides a subtle dryness on the finish that helps to balance the sweetness. The bourbon offers caramel, vanilla, and toasted coconut. There's a quiet burn mid palate and soothing warmth on the finish. The mouth feel is medium and sticky and coats the whole palate. This is one of the best Cycle stouts I've had. I was skeptical about strawberry flavor in a stout, but it was delicious. The various parts of this beer work really well together.

This is plain and simple one AMAZING beer! It hits all all notes...Nice flavor all the way through...Vanilla, Strawberry and Chocolate. The balance, the taste, the mouth feel...and pretty much everything else are dead on. The HYPE is real and this beer is worth it. Rarely do I find myself saying that :) Had the chance to try this twice and it amazed me both times!!!!!

Pours black with a brown head (maybe hints of pink in the head or could be my imagination). Smells like any other stout with the malty/chocolate aroma. Taste is a little chocolate and vanilla a little lingering strawberry. Kind of just a novelty beer, made by great stout brewers.

I had a few beers in my time, but this one is from outer space. Never had anything similar or one that came close. This is a dessert on its own. Chocolate strawberries and some nice bourbon boozy-ness. Well done for sure and probably worth the hype.

This is one of the most unique and most impressive beers I have ever had. You get to taste every bit of the Neapolitan ice cream in the description in all the best ways. Definitely a dessert beer but not at all too sweet in my opinion. A wonderful experience

(Reposted review from Duplicate Entry; Original Review based on draft. Scores for the bottle are virtually the same, although I might edge up the taste to a 4.75 as the bottle seemed to be even more integrated than the draft).

C'mon. What did you expect when two southern lords from House Barreltheon formed an alliance in St. Stoutsberg with a legion of adjuncts at their disposal? Not even the band of soulless mule-riding shitlords could take away the enjoyment of this Neapolitan treat.

A: Black like John Snow's cold dead eyes. A half inch head of Dothraki shaded foam quickly decapitates itself into a thin ring.

S: Strawberries stand proud and pert like dragon lady breasts emerging from a chocolate malt funeral pyre. As the flames recede, the oak, vanilla and sweet molasses kneel in humble observance

T: Sweet Sam Malone, what the hell is a Cheers reference doing in here? Decadent chocolate coated strawberries painted with a fine brush of candied bourbon.

F: Thicker than Gregor Clegane's quads.

O: A damn tasty beer. Worthy of the mighty hype throne upon which it currently rests? Ah, hell, you be the judge. But if you're a kingslayer or just like sweet sipping dessert stouts (think Bramble/Backyard/Life is Like), then you'll be hard pressed to find a better beverage to enjoy when Winter comes.

Is there anything I can even say about this beer that hasn't already been said? The mouthfeel is perfect. The look is beautiful. The most amazing thing about this beer is how they managed to get all 3 flavors into the nose and taste. It smells primarily of chocolate covered strawberries and bursts with chocolate and vanilla when it hits the tongue followed by more strawberry on the finish. Wow. Just wow.

Epic Omaha, Nebraska share! 22oz bottle poured into a snifter.

Look - Pitch black. Little head.

Smell - All 3 flavors were distinguishable! Amazing!

Taste - Strawberry! Vanilla! Chocolate! Crazy stuff here!

Mouthfeel - World Class! Really!!

Overall - One of the most unique beers I have had the pleasure of trying. Worthy of the hype...
