I loved the Cherry wheat beer the first time I was here and had to try the Blueberry wheat. He even added some fresh organic blueberries to top it off. When the blueberry's internal temperature reach the temperature of the beer they start to oscillate up and down in the glass!
A - Light golden-yellow color. Pretty hazy with bright white head and light lacing. The added blueberries make it a really nice looking beer. Not blue or purple in color which I don't usually like.
S - Excellent fruity aroma and perfect complementary bready, wheat character. The blueberries smell sweet and ripe but the wheat beer character is still there.
T - As it hits the palate it is one of the best wheat beers ever. First the blueberry sweetness hits the fore tongue then the bready, grain, wheat beer character ushers in a more beer like character. The back hits with a soft tartness from the fruit and the yeast but it is definitely sweet and refreshing and not just tart like some fruit beers. The finish is soft and not cloying. Eating one of the blueberries on the sip gives you a flavor explosion that both boosts and compliments the beer.
M - Light mouth-feel. Moderate carbonation. The beer was very cold off the tap which could have made the carbonation stay in suspension longer and make it more effervescent on the tongue.
Overall, one of the best American wheat beers that I've ever had. Great aroma, flavor, feel, appearance, and really takes a mostly plain and yeast dominated style and boosts it with the best fruit integrated flavor I've ever encountered. The refreshing taste and quenching character make this a great drinking beer. I would strongly recommend trying this for everyone out there from the beer connoisseur to the person that is just at the bar for a drink.
