lots of blackberry in here, almost preferable to jammy for me because there is just as much fruit to it, but the sweetness is a lot lower, which showcases the yeasts i think more than in the jammy, and i really think, even despite all the awesome fruits in their beers, that they yeast is the best aspect of casey beers. this is deep pink and not real cloudy, the short bubbly head fades pretty quick on the bottle pour, and a tangy bright blackberry aromatic arises, with loads of red wine character, pulped up blackberries and raspberries, and a pleasant tang, supported and enhanced by the citrus note in the yeast profile. there is some sweetness to the fruit in the flavor, i think with blackberries its more necessary than with other fruit, it seems if you ferment a blackberry beer to dry, you lose the flavor of the fruit, so this is right on point with that idea, just enough fruit to taste it, but not nearly as sugary as i remember jammy beings. fresh oak in here, a faint vanilla note, a rustic white wheat base, and some good prickly acidity. excellent beer, nice use of the fruit, not as complex or as interesting overall as some of the other casey stuff, but its always a treat to get to try new ones from them. the mix series beers have been excellent so far!
