a well made beer, but this one is decidedly in that american belgian yeasty type, clean and estery without much rustic character to either the grain or yeast, and no funk here at all, not the type i usually like in the style, but this one is particularly well done. also the context for me was unbeatable, on their rooftop patio at the brewery with panoramic views, a nice breeze, and some cool shade, an unbelievable setting to have any beer at all in. golden in the glass under almost two inches of airy white fizz, popping and replenishing at the same rate. i get a lot of white and pink peppercorn in the nose, almost beyond the yeast like some has to be added, floral and dried and highly fragrant, some white wine and pear notes there too to the yeast profile, green grape and lemongrass as it warms. the flavor here is nice too, mostly yeast driven, estery and not as unique as it could be, but a lot of flavor from it, nicely developed and good and dry at the end. malt base is plain, pale wheat, not much to it. cut and dried flowers, pink peppercorn, light coriander, some light phenols. good carbonation keeps it lighter than it would otherwise seem at this abv, summery flavors and a lot of character from the yeast. as a saison it seems incomplete, but as a belgian blonde or something its very good.
