355ml can into pint glass 29-7-16

A hazy peachy pink, a couple slow streams but just a short lived finger of foam that leaves no lace

S sweet malt, real raspberries, some sweetened cream, some leafy hops, not bad, simple but smells real

T maybe a little lemon to go with what I smell, not as sweet as the nose would have you believe

M fairly light, fluffs up stopping short of air, slick, lots of cereal and raspberries lingering

O another light raspberry beer that’s easy enough to drink in the heat but nothing to make it stand apart from the pack

It is what it claims, drinkable in the heat but I’m not gonna cry if my wife finishes of the 6 pack

Bottle: Poured a light pink color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light raspberry juice notes is pretty pleasant. Taste is a good mix of fresh raspberry juice notes with light malt notes also perceptible. Body si about average with good carbonation. Nice drinkability overall.

Appearance: Hazy amber orange with a slight cast of rose. Carbonation consists of medium to large bubbles that develop a loose, frothy, white head if you pour pretty aggressively. Head retention is very low - it dissipates very quickly leaving a slim ring and almost no surface froth.

Aromatics: Nose is very sweet and fruity, full of raspberry, not quite on a lambic scale of aroma but definitely inviting you in. Not too much rides under the surface, once the fruitiness goes away their are little hints of yeast/bread, some light floral notes, and just a little bit of sweet maltiness in the form of a caramel and/or vanilla.

Taste: The fruit does stand forward, the raspberry kicks up equally zingy tartness and sweetness with some subtle supports of the caramel malt, there is also a fairly prominent but light grassy green hoppiness at the back of it.

Mouthfeel - I’d say lighter side of medium body with a decent carbonation that finishes fairly crisp and dry, just a little tartness in the aftertaste, and nothing that linger too long.

Overall - A super ale where the fruit additive really accentuates the style without overpowering it. A must try for summer - I can see this one being pulled out with the summer picnic/bbq fare - like salads and hotdogs off the grill. I’d definitely pair it with something acidic like a good balsamic salad and don’t be stingy with the mustard and onion on the dogs.

Appearance - Pours a warm amber colour (with a slight raspberry red blush) with two fingers of bubbly white head that quickly dissipates.

Smell - Raspberry puree/jam, bready pale malts, floral and spicy hops.

Taste - Natural raspberry along with bready (and slightly caramel) malts and floral hops. Raspberry really takes the cake on this one, but not in any artificial or cloying way. Slight tartness on the palate.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry with the lingering tartness zing.

Overall - One of the better raspberry ales that I've sampled, letting the fruit shine on its own without any artificiality. Floral hops are also a nice complement to this flavour. Great summer brew.

650ml bottle - this appears to be different from the current (and wholly underrepresented) raspberry-named beers here on BA - just raspberries in the role of adjunct.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, orange-tinged medium amber colour, with three fingers of puffy, somewhat rocky, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves a bit of chunky melting snowbank lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of perky wild raspberries rolled in berry sugar, some grainy and lightly doughy pale malt, subtle earthy yeast, and very tame leafy and weedy hop bitters. The taste is equally fruit-forward, with the sort of candied raspberry being joined by some tart lemon and pithy banana friends, all alongside a tamped-down pale and caramel malt sweetness, waning yeast, and some still very understated leafy and floral green hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite engaging in its airy and frothy come-hither manifestations, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, as all that sugary berry fruitiness has a certain placating effect, for the time being. It finishes well off-dry, but hardly well off the charts - that gentle mid-game tartness starting to find its legs.

Overall, a pretty tasty and enjoyable summer quaffer, the lower session-worthy ABV, combined with the robust raspberry-led fruity notes, goes a long way in justifying this one's tag line: 'Wild | Summer | Tart'.
