Bought from Beer Drop in a 32 ounce crowler. Untappd has only 17 ratings Monk and 4 this month. All of which is a shame because this is a surprisingly nice tripel. Surprising because Joyride's portfolio seems standardized to the typical American palate, of which the tripel is not because its yeast is hard to maintain (particularly at a Mile High.)
But my two after-tennis buddies and I really enjoyed Monk. On a beautiful early March Spring day of 68 degrees when it is really still winter in Chicago, Monk hit the spot. A nice Spring buzz, however premature. Beware the Ides of March.
Monk has sufficient foam, but could use more active protein swirls if it is to perform like a classic. Smells are a nice fruit medley and a few spices including Peppa. Tastes follow closely, but I was surprised to read there is 30 IBU as the bitter hops are not that noticeable. Cleansing and quenching and full in the mouth.
As for my micro-review... I never cease to be amazed at Denver's ability to grow micros. Joyride is in its eighth year and has hit almost 11,000 uniques on UnTappd and seems mostly to be a taproom over looking a lake for people to hang in a low-scale urban setting. Not much to distinguish Joyride from other Denver joints. But the crowds still keep coming in. Now that's beer culture ! Thanks Beer Drop.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
