A: Toffee/caramel malt upfront, followed by fairly strong pine, resinous hops, fairly oxidized with a sharp vinous finish.
A: Light brown color, totally opaque, with a moderate white head that dissipates quickly. There is light lacing in the glass.
T: Malty caramel, slight toffee like, fairly strong pine, resin, citrus hop presence, though hops are starting to degrade. Followed by a sharp vinous tart finish.
M: Full bodied, moderate carbonation. There is a fairly sharp alcoholic burn.
O: This smells and tastes like an American Barleywine that was boozy and thrown into a wine barrel as an experiment. The vinous aroma and flavor does not work well with this beer at all. Interesting experiment, but would not repeat.

Pours a tad hazy. Color is brass. Minimal foam that quickly dissipates and almost no lacing
Smell is a mix of gentle fruity red wine and some hop notes. There's also some biscuity malt.
Taste is a melange of fruit forward pinot noir, some plum, hint of piney hops, and some malt that quickly goes back to a generic red wine finish. Not generic in a bad way, just hard to distinguish what variety.
Mouthfeel is solid.
An interesting twist to the original base beer. I never would've thought to use Pinot Noir, or any red wine barrel, for this. But as an Strong Ale I think there's room to play around. I like the base beer a bit better, but still like this one.
