bottled 2018; poured into tulip
A: a murky brown body with a thick frothy tan head with medium-low retention that laces the glass as it settles into a thin foamy halo
S: sweet and sour cherry tinged malt with a light hint of booze, sharp scotch/peat bitterness and rich earthy wooden notes ground the sour beginnings
T: sour funk immediately hitting the senses; regaining focus brings notes of cherry, stonefruit, rich caramel malt sweetness, scotch-like earthy bitterness and leather; ends with a lush sour fruit sweetness on the tongue.
F: medium-low carbonation, heavy bodied. mostly lush mouthfeel that coats the mouth
Overall (personal opinion):
this brewery's tagline should be: "weird but works" - and in that sense it does the ATX proud. idk how this brew works. idk how most of blue owl's brews "work" honestly. but they do, and this is certainly no exception. this one in fact sticks out more than the previous entries as far as expectation-to-delivery ratios go. this shouldn't really work: sour up the classic wee heavy style and then add peat for legit credibility. it's strange and delightful and weird and delicious.
mission accomplished.

On tap. Brown color with off-white head. Sweet malt smell with some sourness. Medium feel. Sweet, earthy malt flavors mixed with sour fruitiness. An interesting mashup and not what I expected but it works.

This is a surprisingly good beer!
Had it from draft into a tall tulip glass. Sort of a reddish murky brown with good head and decent lacing. Slightly sour smell with a pleasant sweetness.
Odd tasting beer, but for the good. Sourcherries along with a rich malty sweetness that combined well together. A beer I would buy again. Great beer before a nice meal with a friend.
