12 oz undated can purchased at Huckleberry's, in Spokane, WA, for $2.19. I've never been to Big Barn yet, and it's been quite a long while since I've had any of their beers, chiefly because they don't date their cans.
Poured into the glass, it was a slightly coppery looking, dark gold amber color, with a bit of chill hazing. Decent sized off-white head that dropped quite quickly, leaving very little in the way of lace besides the odd small spot.
Sweet and slightly earthy malt aroma.
Much like the nose, the flavor is sweet and earthy, in that order, but it's not sweet to the point where it is unpleasant to drink. It's not particularly complex, either, but has a pleasant enough flavor for what it is.
With a body somewhere between light and medium, the mouth feel although not truly crisp is quite clean finishing and easy to drink.
Not a bad take on the Mexican lager style. Well definitely sweet from the corn, it is definitely balanced enough to where it's not cloying. Not a bad beer for a hot day.

i will briefly lament again that we need a mexican lager category here on BA, they arent all vienna types, and just because this is corn based, its wrong to just group with the adjuncts, how have we not added that by now? anyway, this is a great mexican lager, and i am stoked on these guys right now after a couple of cool lagers this weekend. this one is done with quite a bit of corn, and its unique because its a little sweet the whole way, but also supremely refreshing, and the two things never really go together for me, like i pretty much associate refreshing with dry, so this surprised me. its a little less than clear but very bright in the glass, big puffy white head too, and i love the name and the can art. it smells and tastes earthy and sweet from the corn, i love that i can taste it right away, and there are some lightly limey hops though it too, great mix and balance of flavors, more pale malt character than a lot of these have, and some soft fluffy feeling body, but nothing rich or toasted or anything, its lighter than that, faint spiciness too in here, wonderfully fresh, and technically pretty dialed in too, the lager yeast has a lot of flavor, and this all comes together really well. we had it with bean dip and lime tortilla chips, and it was a brilliant companion. i should have gotten a couple sixers instead of just the single, i really like this! i thought this place was called big barn, not sure what is up with this bodacious berries name...
