Had on tap at BrewDog Oxford (I was the only grey hair.)
BrewDog had 5 taps showcasing Northern Monk.
Winter Star Looks among the near-great. A generous head that laces the nonic from top to bottom. Smells also impress with a nice nose of roasted malts wanting to become chocolate and coffee. Tastes are the same mocha, a well integrated porter that is a bit dry and bitter, but does not get too dry or bitter. Very English. This sits well in my mouth, despite the low ABV.
From only my first beer, I'm impressed and intrigued. I went on their website and find out that collaborations are one of their main activities. It probably is hard enough to grow a business in Leeds, an industrial city still looking for its next economy. And then to do collabs all the time is a true love of beer. Big OA Hugs for Northern Monk.
