Collaboration with BlackStack Brewing
Maybe you didn’t know this but our St. Paul Production facility is very close to BlackStack Brewing. So close that we made our own Can Phone. It’s a soft DDH Hazy IPA with oodles of Idaho 7, Mosaic, Mosaic Cryo, Columbus Cryo, and HBC 692 hops (aka Talus), a new and highly sought-after variety. Think blueberry-lemon pastry flavors, with some grapefruit notes.
To make things extra fun, we’ve packaged this in two different colors, but rest assured that they are both the same beer. And to make things even more fun, BlackStack Brewing made their own version, called “Can Phones”.

16 oz. can. Hazy orange. Smells of citrus, a little garlic, and earthy yeast notes. Tastes of lots of garlicky hops, orange and grapefruit. Lots of earthy yeast notes. Low bitterness. Medium body. Reminds me of a Tree House DIPA. It's good.

Got a pretty sweet haul from Sam. I asked for some BlackStack and Drekker (I’m surprised I forgot about Fair State), but was excited to see a collab between Fair State and BlackStack. Poured a pale-to-gold hazy color with four fingers of rocky white head. Could see some bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Perfect thick spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect foam retention. (Sight - 5.00)
Smelled big Mosaic, followed by Idaho 7 and Talus. Specifically blueberry, Juicy Fruit, rose blossom, floral, pink guava, tangerine, red grapefruit, mixed berry, stone fruit, nectarine, herbal, tea and sticky pine. (Smell - 4.50)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. Lots more Idaho 7 than the nose. Also Mosaic, Talus, sticky pine, peppery spice, wood, blueberry, pink guava, Juicy Fruit, rose blossom, floral, tea, herbal, red grapefruit, mixed berry, tangerine, nectarine and stone fruit. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Damn. Just a lovely beer. This was excellent. (Overall - 4.25)

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left small patches of lace on the glass. It smelled of melon, orange, grapefruit and toasted caramel. Sweet fruity taste with melon notes and toasted caramel. Nice bitterness.

A pours a vibrant and hazy burnt orange with a huge pillowy head. Nice sheets of tapestry lace throughout.
S -Stale hops, bread dough, crackers.
T - Some tropical fruits, tangerine, citrus rind, malts take over, bread dough, crackers, stale hop. Feel is off - lingering hops that feel acidic and bitter.m
O - Not sure if I just got an old can or what (couldn't detect the date, but I think it reads September 2020 which would put this at 3 months old (well after I would usually try an IPA). Nonetheless a very underwhelming offering that I wouldn't recommend.

Yellowish/orange color. Delicious sweet & juicy aroma. Unfortunately it ends there. Taste is a bit dry and uneventful.

Side by side with Can Phones.
Not as hazy. White head with lace.
This one isn’t anywhere near the BS version. Not as juicy or soft. Has a
Big sweetness. Bubblegum, honeydew, melon/cantaloupe. There is a little hop presence up front, but the sweetness takes over quickly.
